70-Watt Stereo Graphic Equalizer/Booster (120-1961) Operation Faxback Doc. # 18416 CAUTION: To prevent possible damage to your speakers, turn on the radio/ cassette player before you turn on the equalizer/booster. Turn on your radio/cassette player and set its volume to a low level. Set the equalizer/booster's VOLUME control to MIN (minimum). Then, press [POWER] on the equalizer/booster so that the left- and right-channel indicator lights. NOTE: The output of the equalizer/booster's power amplifier is electrically protected against incorrect connections. ADJUSTING THE EQUALIZER/BOOSTER Your equalizer/booster has seven center-frequencies. You can adjust these frequencies up to 12 decibels above or below the frequency. To boost a center-frequency level, press the button above that frequency's equalizer-level indicator. To decrease a center-frequency level, press the button below that frequency's equalizer-level indicator. The equalizer-level indicators show each of the seven center-frequency levels plus the overall "shape" of the sound. Adjust each center-frequency for the desired sound. Power-Level Indicator The power-level indicator shows the output power level for the left (L) and right (R) channels. USING THE FADER CONTROL If you connect four speakers to your equalizer/booster, use the FADER control to adjust the sound level between the front and rear pair of speakers. Turn the control counterclockwise (F) to emphasize the front speakers; turn it clockwise (R) to emphasize the rear speakers. USING THE DEFEAT BUTTON If you want a flat booster effect without the equalizer, press [DEFEAT] to the in position. Press [DEFEAT] to the out position to use the equalizer. Connecting a CD Player You can connect a portable CD (Compact Disc) player to your equalizer/ booster for an even more impressive sound. Using an optional stereo patch cord with a 1/8-inch mini plug at both ends, connect your CD player's output jack to the equalizer/booster's CD input jack. You can find the necessary stereo patch cord at your local Radio Shack store. Turn on the CD player. Then, turn on the equalizer/booster. Start the CD player and adjust the equalizer/booster's control's as desired. Caution: With the CD player's wide dynamic range, CDs can instantly change from a very soft to a very loud sound level. To prevent damaging your speakers, set the equalizer/booster's VOLUME control based on the CD's loudest sound level. (CS 11/21/95)
