Road Patrol XK Wireless Hidden/Remote Radar Detector (220-1622) Operation Faxback Doc. # 32790 OPERATING YOUR RADAR DETECTOR 1. Turn on the indicator unit by setting its POWER OFF/VOLUME switch to Hi or LOW. The indicator beeps for about four seconds. This verifies that the unit is working properly. 2. Set the HWY/CITY switch to the desired setting. The CITY setting lowers the detector's sensitivity to false radar alerts caused by electronic devices such as commercial door openers and burglar alarms. The HWY setting increases your radar detector's range. Use this setting in rural areas or on the open road. When you approach a radar signal source, the indicator unit makes a beeping sound and the alert indicator flashes. As you get closer to the radar signal source, the beeping and flashing become more rapid. In some vehicles, road noise might keep you from hearing the alert signal, even at the HI setting. In such cases, you can listen for the beeping alert signal by plugging the supplied earphone into the indictor unit's earphone jack. NOTE: Wearing an earphone while operating a motor vehicle is illegal in some places. Check the local regulations in your area before using the earphone. When the indicator unit's batteries are low, the BATT indicator turns off and both the alarm and indicators come on. When this happens, you can recharge the indicator unit's batteries as described in "Powering the Indicator Unit", on Faxback Doc. # 32789. NOTES: The sensor unit automatically turns off when you turn off the vehicle's ignition. As long as the ignition is off, the sensor unit draws no current from the vehicle's battery. If you leave the indicator unit turned on after turning off your vehicle's ignition, the indicator unit seconds a steady tone to remind you to turn it off. FUSE REPLACEMENT Your radar detector's sensor unit is fuse-protected. If the sensor unit is inoperative, check the FUSE in the positive power wire of the sensor unit. If the fuse is blown, replace it only with an identical 2A fuse (Radio Shack Cat. No. 270-1275). Twist the holder as shown to open it. CAUTION: If you use a fuse with a higher rating than 2A you can cause permanent damage to the sensor unit. (BR/EB 4/30/96)
