Pull-Out Stereo Cassette (120-1989) Operation Faxback Doc. # 7966 Playing the Radio Follow these steps to listen to the radio. 1. To turn on the stereo, turn VOL/BAL clockwise until it clicks. If a cassette tape is in the stereo, press FF/EJ and remove the tape. 2. Press BAND to select the desired band. Select A1 or A2 for AM reception. Select F1, F2, or F3 for FM reception. The selected band indicator (A1, A2, F1, F2, or F3) appears on the display. 3. Tune to the desired station in one of the following ways: Manual Tuning: Press TUNE V or upside V to tune up or down the selected band. Press and hold TUNE V or upside V to change the frequency more rapidly. Auto-Seek Tuning: Press SEEK V or upside down V to tune to the next higher or lower station. Memory/Memory Scan Tuning: See "Memory Tuning." 4. Adjust VOL/BAL, TONE, and FADER to suit your listening preferences. 5. If there are several radio stations in your listening area, press LOC. LOC appears on the display and your radio receives only the strongest signals. To receive distant stations in rural areas, press LOC until LOC disappears from display. To turn off the stereo, turn VOL/BAL counterclockwise until it clicks. MEMORY TUNING You can store up to 12 AM and 18 FM stations in memory. Each memory group (A2, A2, F1, F2, and F3) can hold up to six frequencies. If you use auto- matic memory storage, the stereo searches for the next six stations in a band and automatically enters these into that band's six memory locations. If you manually store stations in memory, you can choose up to six individual stations for each band. Automatically Storing Stations 1. Press BAND to select the memory group. For example, select F1 to store the first group of FM stations. 2. Use any tuning method to tune to the first station you want to store in memory. 3. Press and hold MS for more than 2 seconds. The system scans the selected band, and automatically stores up to six stations. CH, the memory location number, and the station's frequency appears on the display for each stored station. After the system enters all six stations into memory, it scans the stored stations. When the radio pauses at a stored station, the station's frequency appears and the channel number flashes on the display. Press MS to stop scanning when the stereo pauses on the station you want to listen to. 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each memory group. Manually Storing Stations Follow these steps to manually store a station in memory. 1. Press BAND to select the desired memory group. For example, select F1 to store the first group of FM stations. 2. Use any tuning method to tune to the station you want to store. 3. Press and hold down the desired memory location button. The radio plays at low volume for a few seconds. When the volume returns to its previous level, release the memory location button. The station's frequency is programmed into the selected memory location. 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each selected memory group. Selecting a Stored Station To select a stored station, press BAND to select the correct memory group. Then, press the desired memory location button. Scanning Stored Stations Press BAND to select the memory group. Press and release MS to scan the stored stations. Note: Do not hold down MS. This sets the radio to automatically store stations into memory. The radio scans all stored stations in the memory group, pausing for 5 seconds at a each station. As the radio pauses at a station, the station's frequency appears and the channel number flashes on the display. Press MS again to stop scanning when the stereo pauses on the station you want to listen to. CASSETTE PLAYER OPERATION Follow these steps to play a cassette tape. 1. Take up any tape slack by turning the cassette's hub with your finger or a pencil. Avoid touching the tape. 2. Insert a cassette tape into the cassette compartment with its open edge facing right and the desired tape side facing up. The tape begins to play. 3. Adjust VOL/BAL, TONE, and FADER to suit your listening preference. 4. To fast forward the tape, press FF/EJ halfway. Press FF/EJ halfway again to stop the tape. To stop play, press FF/EJ in all the way. Press FF/EJ again to eject the tape. To turn off the stereo, turn VOL/BAL counterclockwise until it clicks. (LB/all-02/06/95)
