2500XL (250-4074) Utility Faxback Doc. # 1151 MS-DOS 3.30.11 AND UTILITY EVALUATION These utilities are essentially the same as those provided in the previous version. Verification testing was performed on these utilities with no problems seen: SETUPXL.EXE configuration program SPEEDXL.COM changes CPU speed until next reboot TEMMXL.SYS LIM 4.0 EMS driver (supplied by Headland) KP.EXE keyboard/mouse password program PASSWORD.EXE power-on password utility VGA.EXE was changed to support the 132-column modes available in the super VGA version of this machine. The 132-column modes do not allow 132 characters to be typed on a line. The 132 x 25 and 132 x 43 modes actually display 129 and move the cursor to the next position, but do not allow you to type another character. This has been determined to be a limitation of the DOS command line buffer and not related to the 132 column modes. If MSDOS 3.30 version of ANSI.SYS is used with the 132 x 43 mode only 24 lines of the screen are used with normal scrolling occurring in those 24 lines. If MSDOS 4.01 version of ANSI.SYS is used with the same mode 24 lines are displayed then all subsequent display to the screen overwrites the last line and no scrolling occurs. All utilities functioned as expected with one exception: The 132-column modes available through VGA.EXE did not work properly with ANSI.SYS. See details above. (/tmc-09/09/95)
