2500XL (250-4074) Boards Faxback Doc. # 1153 INSTALLATION OF EGA IN A 2500XL (250-4074) USING THE 25-3048 OR 3048A BOARD You will first have to hook up a VGA monitor to the computer so that you can run SETUPXL. In the SETUPXL program you must tell the computer to RE-MAP the Shadow Memory, and show 384K for extended. Then press (F2) to update to these changes, and let the computer re-boot. Then power the computer down, and remove the cover. Change jumper E15-E16 to E14-E15, this disables the onboard VGA. Configure the 25-3048 board according to the monitor in use and install it. │ FYI Notes for the 2500XL Computer │ ├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┤ │The 2500XL is a AT compatible 80286 CPU, with Tandy 1000 TL type features,│ │like the Sound Capabilities, and DOS 3.3 & DeskMate built into ROM. │ │ │ │Comes with: │ │----------------- │ │1 Meg memory expandable to 16 meg (only 15 meg addressable at this time) │ │DOS 3.3 & DeskMate built into ROM │ │SmartDrive Technology built in (DOESN'T SUPPORT HARD CARDS!) │ │Sound Capabilities ( these are NOT the same PORT ADDRESSES as the 1000s) │ │Standard AT type CMOS... plus a 2K EEPROM │ │PS/2 type Keyboard connector │ │PS/2 type Mouse Connector │ │3 Horizontal AT type card slots & accepts FULL length IBM 13" boards. │ │ │ │OPTIONS │ │----------------- │ │8 MHz 80287 Math Co-Processor (only runs at 8 MHz) │ │Additional Memory kits ┌──────┤ │Supports the use of SCSI drives │ MORE │ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┴──────┘ ┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │ FYI Notes for the 2500XL │ ├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┤ │OTHER NOTES │ │-------------- │ │If booted off of ROM it boots in approximately 2.4 Seconds. │ │It will Accept 3 Floppy Drives (2 - 3.5" & 1 - 5.25") │ │Will Run OS/2 │ │You can Adjust ALL setup options!
