3830 SL (250-3573) Memory Upgrades Faxback Doc. # 1213 Your computer comes with 2 MB of RAM. The RAM card slot in the computer lets you install an additional RAM card to expand the memory up to 4 MB (with a 2 MB RAM card -- Cat. No. 25-3508) or up to 8 MB (with a 6 MB RAM card -- Cat. No. 25-3527). Follow these steps to install the RAM card: 1. Open the display panel and turn on the computer. 2. Run the Setup383 and set Resume Mode to OFF. 3. Turn off the computer and close the display panel. 4. Open the back cover. Then, remove the two screws on the RAM card slot cover and remove the cover. CAUTION: Take care not to drop the screws in the holes on the panel. Be sure you keep the cover and screws for Step 6. 5. Hold the RAM card so that the letter A on the card faces the top the computer. Then, with the connector end of the card forward, firmly plug the card into the RAM card slot. CAUTION: Do not try to force the card into the slot. Doing so might damage the computer. 6. Replace the RAM card slot cover and secure it with the two screws you removed earlier. 7. Close the back cover. 8. Turn the computer back on. Then, run the Setup383, set the Resume Mode to ON if you want to use the resume function again, and press F2 to save the settings. Removing the RAM Card: 1. Follow Steps 1-4 in the previous section to remove the RAM card slot cover. 2. Insert the front edge of the slot cover into the tab hole on the RAM card. 3. Keep the slot cover horizontal and slowly pull it toward you. CAUTION: Do not try to pry the RAM card out of the slot. Doing so could damage the card and the computer. 4.
