Sensation! (250-1650) Windows 3.11 Sound Issues Faxback Doc. # 16260 Newer versions of Windows are available. Many customers will want to install them on their Tandy Sensation system. The installation of Windows for Workgroups version 3.11 may cause no audio output. In the testing we have done, the following things were noted: If there is a version of Windows installed on the Tandy Sensation, Windows 3.11 can be installed over the existing version without losing any sound capabilities. If Windows 3.1 has been removed from the system, this version can be re-installed and then Windows 3.11 would be installed over that version. If Windows 3.11 has been installed on a system without Windows, some sections of the SYSTEM.INI file can be copied from the Data CD into the c:\windows\system.ini file on the hard drive. These sections would be: [mci] [drivers] [mciseq] [vdspd.386] if it exists The [mci] and [drivers] sections would be replaced. Then, all of the .DRV files referenced in these sections need to be copied from d:\original\windows\system. The files are: mciwave.drv mciseq.drv vdspd.drv mcicda.drv mciavi.drv mmaadpcm.drv mcimmp.drv mciaap.drv timer.drv midimap.drv tandysnd.drv tandymma.drv dtmf.drv msvidc.drv soft486.drv Once this is done, restart Windows. The sounds should play with no problem. (smm/all-08/01/95)
