Sensation! (250-1650) Windows 95 and MIDI Faxback Doc. # 17563 After installing Windows 95 or any cd-rom program (i.e. Bookshelf, Groliers) on the Sensation all the midi sounds suddenly won't play. The reason is the Tandy Wave/Midi Synthesizer driver has been reset to the Base Level Synthesizer mode. Some programs that use midi sounds will reset the driver back to default setting of Base Level Synthesizer when they are installed. In Windows 95 if a program uses midi sounds it will behave as if the program was playing the sound but there is no output. The following procedure will correct the problem: 1. Go to My Computer. 2. Then the Control Panel. 3. Open Multimedia. 4. Next switch to the Advanced page. 5. Then double click on Midi Devices and Instruments. It should then extend and show these sub headings: (amoung others) Tandy Midi Synthesizer Tandy MMA Midi Port 6. If there is not an option for Tandy Midi Synthesizer refer to document #17296 for instructions on installing the Tandy Wave/Midi Synthesizer driver. 7. Double click on Tandy Midi Synthesizer. 8. Next click on the Settings button. 9. Set the Midi Driver mode to either Extended Level Synthesizer or General Midi Synthesizer. This should solve the problem of not hearing midi sounds.
