IBM Aptiva M50/M51 (250-0440) Printing Faxes - Windows 95 / JP-1000 Faxback Doc. # 18100 Downloading PTSFAX.EXE using Aptiva preloaded with Windows 95 In the Communications Center on the Aptiva, when you receive a fax, you cannot print it out to the JP-1000 under Windows 95. Below are the steps to follow in getting the fax from the IBM BBS. 1. From Windows 95 click on Start-Program-Mwave-Mwave Modem. This will bring up a small box of a modem. This is the driver that needs to be loaded in order to use the mwave modem in Windows. Once it is open, minimize it. 2. Click on Start-Programs-MSDOS Prompt. This will take you to C:\WINDOWS. Type CD and hit . Next, type MD FLX and hit . Once back to the C:\> prompt, type EXIT to return to Windows. 3. Click on Star-Programs-Aptiva Productivity-Aptiva Communication Center-Operator. Click on the modem button. This will load HyperTerminal. The Location info screen should come up asking for your area code and if you have to dial a special number to get an outside line. 4. Once HyperTerminal is loaded it will ask for the area code. The area code is 919. For the phone number type 5170001 and hit On the next screen check to make sure the phone number is correct. If it is correct, click the dial button and it will dial the BBS number. 5. Once you are logged into the BBS you will need to establish an account. It will ask for your name, telephone number and address. You will need to set up what you want your password to be. Once into the BBS, you should come to the main menu. 6. At the main menu type D and hit . You will be prompted to enter the file name. Type PTSFAX.EXE and hit . 7. Once the file is found it will ask you what protocol to use. Select Z for ZModem. 8. Click on the Transfer menu and select Receive File. The default directory is \PHOENIX. Select the Browse button. Double click on the C: folder. This will change you to the C: root directory. Scroll down until you see the folder labeled FLX and select it. Click OK to continue. The screen should read the FLX folder as the place where the file is to be downloaded to and the protocol is ZModem. If this is correct, click on the receive button to begin the file transfer. This should take about 6 minutes. 9. Once the transfer is complete you will be back at the BBS Main Menu. Click on the Call menu and select disconnect. Next close out HyperTerminal and everything else that is open. 10. Click on Start-Programs-MSDOS Prompt. This will take you to C:\WINDOWS. Type CD \ and hit . Type CD FLX and hit . 11. Once in the fix directory insert a blank 3.50" diskette in the drive. Type PTSFAX and hit . Follow the prompts and this will make a disk for you. Once the disk is created reboot the computer with disk in the system. Follow the prompts to install the files. (/tmc-12/07/95)
