The following are two additional ways to create the Restoration Disks for the Aptiva system. The first way is to use the Create Recovery Disks utility provided with Windows 3.1, and the second is to create the disks manually in MS-DOS.. Both methods produce a three-disk set. 1. Windows 3.1 From the Program Manager screen select the icon "Aptiva Ware" From AptivaWare select the icon "Aptiva Custom Tools". In Aptiva Custom Tools select the obvious, "Create Recovery Disks" From "Create Recovery Disks" on, the procedure will be automatic, just follow the instructions. 2. DOS (System running Windows 3.1) After exiting Windows to the DOS prompt, insert the CD disk labeled "IBM Aptiva, Multimedia Exploration CD" into the CD-ROM drive. Type "D:" and hit . Type "CD RECOVERY" and hit . At this point you can create the Recovery Disks one at a time. To start, at the prompt, type: D:\RECOVERY LOADDSKF D:\RECOVERY\RECOVER1.IMG A: /F Once this disk is complete change the floppy and type: LOADDSKF D:\RECOVERY\RECOVER2.IMG A: /F The third disk is the same: LOADDSKF D:\RECOVERY\RECOVER3.IMG A: /F (SM/all-02/08/96)
