MMPC Model 10/20 (250-1640/41) Hard Drive Faxback Doc. # 2528 Restoring the Hard Drive If you accidentally delete (or otherwise lose) the entire contents of your hard drive, follow these instructions to restore the hard drive's original contents (as shipped from the factory). > Note: Any .GRP and .INI file customization of applications is lost when you restore the hard drive. After you restore the hard drive, .GRP and .INI files that might have previously contained application-specific information will contain default information. The C:\SAVED directory contains the previous versions of your .GRP and .INI files. Copy the earlier version of the files from C:\SAVED to appropriate directory to restore affected applications to their previous settings. 1. Insert the Utilities diskette into the diskette drive. 2. Insert the system Disc into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Restart the computer. 4. At the MS-DOS prompt, type "setupdos" and press ENTER. If a screen message indicates unallocated disk space needs to be configured, press FDISK ENTER to begin partitioning the hard drive. After partitioning the hard drive, the system restarts. At the MS-DOS prompt, type "FORMAT C: /S" and press ENTER to format the drive and continue the setup procedure. At the MS-DOS prompt, type "setupdos" and press ENTER to continue the setup procedure. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to install MS-DOS and the system utilities. A prompt is displayed when installation is complete. 6. Remove the Utilities diskette, and restart the computer. 7. Type "d:" and press ENTER to access the CD-ROM drive. Then, access the root directory of the CD by typing "cd\"and pressing ENTER. 8. Type "start" and press ENTER. All factory-installed applications are restored on the hard drive. (smc/csc-08/02/95)
