AST Advantage! 6066d (250-0404/412) Demo Install Faxback Doc. # 3278 Store/Retailer vs. The 6066d is designed to be easily configured Home/Office Setup as either a Home/Office end-user system or as a retail store floor demo. When configured as a store demo model, the rolling demo is automatically installed, enhanceing sales, and increasing system security. When configured as a Home/Office system, the rolling demos are deleted providing increased storage capability, and the start-up questions removed. Initial Start-Up of "Are you a Home/Office user, or a Store the System Retailer?" The first time the system is powered on, the user is asked to identify whether or not they are a Home/Office user or a Store/Retailer. Home/Office? If the user chooses Home/Office user: 1. The files for the rolling demo are deleted from the hard drive increasing available storage space. 2. The identifying questions during start-up are deleted. 3. The system will then go directly to AST Works upon every start-up thereafter. Store/Retailer? If the user chooses Store/Retailer: (Your choice for store demo!) 1. There is a question to insure the correct choice is made. "Please verify that you are a Store/ Retailer. Yes or No." If answered yes ... 2. The program will then prompt the user for a password. The password is customizable for each store. If using your store number as a password, DO NOT use the number pad on keyboard, use the numbers along the top. 3. The AST rolling demo is installed as a screen saver. 4. The rolling demo will begin running. 5. The system will them go directly to the AST rolling demo upon every start-up thereafter. Exiting the Demo To exit the rolling demo during a sales presentation, type the store's customized password that was established during the initial start-up. The demo will stop and the system will boot to the AST rolling demo upon every start-up thereafter. Restarting the Demo The rolling demo will automatically restart after a default period of thirty seconds of non-activity. The restart time may be customized using the screen saver delay function in the Desktop section of the Windows Control Panel, which is found in the System Tools group and Main Program Group. Removing the Demo To remove the demo from the system: 1. Select File and then select Run. 2. Type BYEDEMO.EXE, press Enter, and the demo will be deleted. (ALL/tmc-03/31/95)
