IBM Aptiva C66 (250-0458) Rapid Resume Faxback Doc. # 34530 The following table describes the way your computer normally operates when each of the Rapid Resume features is enabled (turned on). Table 1: Rapid Resume feature behaviors Behavior: Feature and explanation: Computer does not automatically Feature: Standby go into Standby when AutoPlay is enabled. If Autoplay is enabled, your computer will not enter Standby unless you disable hard drive and CD-ROM drive checking in the Setup Utility. For information about these System Utility options, see "Rapid Resume advanced options" on page 42. (In Windows 95, you can turn on Autoplay for CDs. With Autoplay enabled, audio CDs start to play automatically when you put them into the CD-ROM drive.) Computer waits before turning off. Feature: Rapid Resume It can take up to several seconds before Rapid Resume saves the desktop and turns off the computer. Computer won't start from diskette Feature: Rapid Resume if Rapid Resume is enabled. After you turn on the computer, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete when you see the Rapid Resume screen. There may be a slight delay before the computer restarts Note that using Ctrl + Alt + Delete will cause the loss of your saved desktop. If possible, first start your computer without the diskette and save any unsaved information. Then exit Windows. After you have exited Windows, then insert the diskette and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. System unit and monitor are on, Feature: Standby but nothing is displayed on the screen. This is a normal function of the Standby feature. To exit Standby, use any of the devices your computer checks for activity. For infor- mation about these monitored devices, see "Standby" on page 26. Delay before mouse works. Feature: Standby When your computer comes out of Standby, and the desktop reappears, it may take a few seconds for the mouse to become active. System unit power light is Feature: Standby blinking while the system unit is on. This is a normal function of the Blink Power Light feature. You can turn this feature on and off only in the Setup Utility. Computer comes on when you haven't Feature: Scheduler or Automatic pushed the on/off button. Power On This is a normal function of the Scheduler feature. You can schedule your computer to come on at a specific date and time. System unit power light is blinking, Feature: Ring Indicator, with but system unit is turned off. Wake Up on Ring This is a normal function of the Wake Up on Ring feature. It indicates that your computer turned on to receive data, a fax, or a voice message. Computer comes on when the phone Feature: Wake Up on Ring rings. This is a normal function of the Wake Up on Ring feature. You can set up your computer to turn itself on when the phone rings to receive data, a fax, or a voice message. (BR/BKL-09/05/96)
