Fast Ni-Cad Charger (230-0233) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15514 1. Open the transparent compartment cover and install the batteries you want to charge. Insert at least two batteries. Be sure to observe proper polarity (+ and -), as marked inside the compartment. Failure to observe proper polarity can damage the charger and the batteries. The compartments automatically adjust for different size batteries. Never put two different sized batteries in one charging compartment. 9-volt batteries snap onto the connectors between the chambers. Only charge nickel cadmium batteries in this battery charger. Be sure the batteries are fully discharged before charging. If you repeatedly charge a full or partially charged battery, the battery loses its capacity to maintain a charge. 2. Plug the AC cord into a standard AC outlet. 3. Press [START]. The TIMER indicator lights, and each compartment's indicator lights where batteries are inserted. If you have inserted batteries in a compartment, and the charging indictor for that compartment does not light when you press [START], unplug the charger immediately. Remove the batteries and clean their contacts. Then, reinsert the batteries, confirm correct polarity, plug in the charger, and press [START] again. If the charging indicator still does not light, either the charger is not working properly or the batteries you are trying to charge are defective. The battery charger automatically turns off in 5 1/2 hours. The charging indicator(s) and the timer indicator turn off when charging is complete.
