Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard AC outlet. 3. To discharge the batteries, set CHARGE/DISCHARGE to DISCHARGE. The red indicator lights. NOTES: If the indicator does not light, be sure you correctly installed the batteries. It takes approximately 1-2 hours to discharge the batteries. If you do not remove or charge the batteries after 2 hours, the charger automatically turns off the discharging circuit. 4. To charge the batteries, set CHARGE/DISCHARGE to CHARGE. The green indicator(s) above the battery chamber(s) you are using light(s). NOTE: If the green indicators do not light when you plug the charger into an AC outlet, be sure you inserted the batteries with the proper polarity (+ and -). If you installed them correctly, unplug the charger, remove the batteries, and clean the batteries' and charger's contacts. Then reinstall the batteries and plug in the charger. If the problem persists, either the charger or one of the batteries you are trying to charge is faulty. 5. After about 7-8 hours, unplug the adapter from the AC outlet and remove the batteries. WARNING: To prevent damage to your charger and risk of shock, always unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the charger.
