Karaoke-Mate (320-1153) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15659 SINGING ALONG You can use these controls to get the second just right: Echo - This adds an echo effect to your voice while you sing. Adjust ECHO between MIN and MAX for the desired effect. NOTE: The digital echo only affects the microphone's sound, not the audio input source. Voice Cancel - This filters out bands recorded between 200 and 2 kHz (vocals range). While you play the audio input source, set POWER to VOCAL CANCEL to reduce the prerecorded voice's volume. NOTE: The voice cancelling feature reduces the level of signals that are recorded at the same level on both the left and right channels. Therefore, it does not work well with monaural recordings or broadcasts, recordings or broadcasts with strong echoes, stereo recordings with material originally recorded in monaural, or vocals recorded off center. Also, if a musical instrument was recorded in the center position, its sound level might decrease. WARNING: To protect your hearing, set the audio output component's volume to its minimum position before you turn it on. Follow these steps to sing along with the audio input source. 1. Turn on the audio input source and the audio output component. You hear the audio input's sound through the audio output component. Set the audio output component's volume control to a comfortable listening level. 2. Set POWER to ON. The POWER indicator lights. 3. Turn on the microphone(s), adjust MIC 1's and/or MIC 2's volume control(s) to the desired sound level(s), and sing or talk into the microphone(s). You hear your voice through the audio output component. NOTE: To avoid feedback, keep the microphone as far away from the speakers and the other microphone as possible. 4. Set POWER to VOCAL CANCEL. The prerecorded voice's sound is reduced. 5. Adjust ECHO to add an echo to your voice. 6. When you finish, set POWER to OFF. The POWER indicator turns off and the sound passes through the Karaoke-Mate to the audio output compo- nent unaffected. 7. Turn off the audio input source and the audio component. USING THE KARAOKE-MATE AS A MIC MIXER You can use your Karaoke-Mate as a simple microphone mixer. For example, if you connect an audio input source such as an electronic keyboard to the STEREO LINE IN R and L jacks, you can sing or talk through the micro- phone(s) and mix that input with the sound from the keyboard.
