USING BATTERIES

You can use four AA batteries to power your Li'l Laptop.  We recommend
alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552.

1.  Push the tabs on the battery compartment cover and remove the cover.

2.  Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    marked inside the compartment.

3.  Replace the cover.

    Replace the batteries if the sound weakens or the display dims.

Cautions:  Never leave dead or weak batteries in the computer.

           If you are not going to use the computer for a week or more,
           remove the batteries.

USING AC POWER

You can power your Li'l Laptop from a standard AC outlet with an AC
adapter such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1650.

Cautions:  You must use an AC adapter that supplies 9 volts and delivers
           at least 300 milliamps.  Its center tip must be set to
           positive, and its plug must correctly fit the Li'l Laptop's
           DC 9V jack.  The recommended adapter meets these
           specifications.  Using an adapter that does not meet these
           specifications could seriously damage the Li'l Laptop or the
           adapter.

           Always remove the adapter from the AC outlet before you remove
           it from the Li'l Laptop.

Follow these steps to power the Li'l Laptop from an AC outlet.

1.  Insert the adapter's 9V DC barrel plug into the Li'l Laptop's DC 9V
    jack.

2.  Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.

USING THE HANDLE

Slide the handle up when you want to carry the Li'l Laptop, or down to
store or use it.

GENERAL NOTES

TURNING THE LI'L LAPTOP ON AND OFF

To turn on the Li'l Laptop, press ON/NEW GAME.  The Li'l Laptop announces,
"Select an activity, " and Select Activity appears on the display.  You
can select from 11 different activities (see "Activities").

To turn off the Li'l Laptop, press OFF.

If you do not press any key for about 8 minutes, the Li'l Laptop turns
itself off to conserve power.

    Notes:  To restart or select another game, press ON/NEW GAME.

            To repeat a question, press ENTER/REPEAT.

            For some questions, there might be more than one answer, but
            the Li'l Laptop accepts only one as correct.

            When you answer 10 questions, the display shows your score for
            about five seconds (except for two-player Word Shuffle and
            Mystery Word games).  Then you can continue to play the game.

            To enter a capital letter, press UP ARROW and the desired
            letter key.

            The Li'L LAPTOP key has no function.
