Li'l Laptop (600-2438) Operation Faxback Doc. # 3458 LOST LETTERS The Li'l Laptop shows you a word with one or more letters missing. You try to guess the letter or letters to fill in the blank. 1. Press LOST LETTERS. "Skill level 1 to 3" scrolls across the display. Notes: Level 1 is the easiest, and Level 3 is the hardest. Different skill levels have different formats. Level 1: First letter of the word is missing Level 2: First letter and another letter are missing Level 3: Any two letters are missing 2. Press the number (1 to 3) for the level that you want. The Li'l Laptop announces "What word is this?" Then a word with one or more missing letters, "Hints," and four different letters appear on the display. Note: If you do not enter a skill level within about 30 seconds, the Li'l Laptop automatically starts at Level 1. 3. Choose one of the displayed letters and enter it to fill in the blank. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." (If the word has more than one letter missing, the Li'l Laptop announces the first correct letter and displays four more letters.) If your answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After three wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop displays and spells out the correct word. After you enter a correct answer (or the Li'l Laptop shows the correct answer), the Li'l Laptop displays another word with "Hints" and four more letters. Scoring Your receive 10 points for a successful first entry, 5 for a successful second entry, or 2 for a successful third entry. The skill level is automatically upgraded when you reach 100 points, and a new game starts. If the total score is less than 100, a new game starts at the same skill level. A players's skill level is never downgraded. WORD SHUFFLE The Li'l Laptop shows a word with the letters scrambled. You try to unscramble the letters and guess the word. 1. Press WORD SHUFFLE. The Li'l Laptop announces "What word is this?" and some letters appear on the display. 2. Retype the letters in the correct order to fill in the blanks. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." If your answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After three wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop displays and spells out the correct word. After you enter a correct answer (or the Li'l Laptop shows the correct answer), the Li'l Laptop displays another scrambled word. DOUBLE SYMBOL WORD SHUFFLE This is a two-player game. One player chooses a word for the Li'l Laptop to scramble. Then the other player tries to unscramble the letters and guess the word. 1. Press DOUBLE SYMBOL WORD SHUFFLE. The Li'l Laptop announces "Enter your word, " and ???????? appears on the display. 2. Player 1 enters a word (up to 8 characters) and presses ENTER/REPEAT. The display shows "Thanks!! Next Player." Notes: Be sure Player 2 can't see the word being entered. If you press a wrong key, press <- to delete the last character entered. 3. Player 1 gives the game to Player 2. The Li'l Laptop announces "What word is this?" and shows the letters of PLAYER 1's word in a different order. 4. Player 2 has three tries to guess the word and rearrange the letters in order. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." If an answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After three wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop announces, "The Li'l Laptop announces, "The answer is..." and displays and spells out the word that Player 1 entered. After Player 2 enters a correct answer (or the Li'l Laptop shows the correct answer), it is Player 2's turn to enter a word for Player 1 to try to guess. ANAGRAMANIA The Li'l Laptop displays a word. You try to spell another word using all of the letters of the displayed word. 1. Press ANAGRAMANIA. The Li'l Laptop announces "Can you make another word?" and displays a word. 2. Rearrange all of the displayed letters to have them spell another word, then enter that word. Notes: The Li'l Laptop does not accept plural forms or proper nouns. If you press a wrong key, press <- to delete the last character entered. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." If your answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After three wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop displays and spells out the correct word. You must choose the correct verb tense to complete a sentence. 1. Press TRICKY TENSE. A sentence without a verb scrolls across the display, followed by three possible answers. Note: To repeat the question, press ENTER/REPEAT. 2. Pick the verb with the correct tense (Past, present, or future) for the sentence and press its corresponding letter. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." If your answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After two wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop displays the correct answer. After you enter a correct answer (or the Li'l Laptop shows the correct answer), the Li'l Laptop displays another sentence. Scoring You receive 10 points for a successful first entry, or 5 for a successful second entry. MYSTERY WORD MYSTERY WORD challenges you to guess the letters of an unseen word. 1. Press MYSTERY WORD. The Li'l Laptop asks, "What word is this?" and 6 appears at the upper left of the display. 2. Select a letter and press its key. The li'l Laptop announces each letter when you enter it. If your guess is correct, the Li'l Laptop also shows the letter in its proper place in the word. If your guess is incorrect, the Li'l Laptop also announces, "No, that's not right." Each time you enter an incorrect letter, the number at the upper left of the display decreases by one. When you enter six incorrect letters, the Li'l Laptop announces, "The answer is..." and shows the word on the display. If you guess the entire word, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right." Then the Li'l Laptop asks "What word is this?" and 6 appears at the upper left of the display again. Scoring Points are awarded like this: If your first guess is successful, you receive 10 points. If your second guess is successful, you receive 8 points. If your third guess is successful, you receive 6 points. If your fourth guess is successful, you receive 4 points. If your fifth guess is successful, you receive 2 points. If your sixth (and last) guess is successful, you receive no points. DOUBLE SYMBOL MYSTERY WORD This is a two-player game. ADDITION (+), SUBTRACTION (-), MULTIPLICATION (x), AND DIVISION (/) The Li'l Laptop shows a calculation. You try to guess the number that correctly solves the equation. 1. Press +, -, x, or /. "Skill level 1 to 3" scrolls across the display. 2. Press a number (1 to 3) to choose your level. A calculation with the solution missing appears on the display. Note: Level 1 is the easiest and Level 3 is the hardest. If your answer is correct, the Li'l Laptop announces, "Yes, that's right" and shows the word spelled correctly. If an answer is wrong, the Li'l Laptop announces, "No, that's not right." After three wrong answers, the Li'l Laptop announces, "The answer is..." and spells the word in the second row. After you enter a correct answer (or the Li'l Laptop shows the correct answer), the Li'l Laptop displays another word.
