Q:  The metal detector works fine at home.  However, it constantly beeps
    at the beach close to salt water.

A:  Salt water contains salt which is Sodium Chloride.  The Chloride ion
    binds better and thus may form Zinc Chloride, etc. and the unit is
    picking up the sensitivity of these trace metals.  Adjust the
    sensitivity.
