Concertmate-570 Electronic Keyboard (420-4025) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 32569 You can power your keyboard from any of three sources. 5 AA batteries Standard AC power (with an optional AC adapter) Vehicle battery (with an optional DC adapter) INSTALLING BATTERIES Your keyboard can use five AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552. Follow these steps to install the batteries. 1. Be sure POWER is set to OFF. 2. Press the battery compartment cover's tab in the direction of the arrow and lift off the cover. 3. Slide the batteries into the compartment. The picture beside the compartment shows you which way to line up the + and - ends. CAUTION: Always use fresh batteries of the required size and type. 4. Replace the cover. NOTES: If you do not plan to use batteries in the keyboard for a week or more, remove them. They might leak chemicals that can damage the keyboard's electronic circuits. If the keyboard sounds weak or does not work properly, replace all five batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. CAUTIONS: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Never burn a battery. USING AC POWER To power your Concertmate-570 from a standard AC outlet, you need a 7.5- volt AC adapter (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1662. CAUTIONS: You must use an AC adapter that supplies 7.5 volts of DC power and delivers at least 200 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to negative, and its plug must properly fit the Concertmate -570's DC 7.5V jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using another adapter could damage the Concertmate-570 or the adapter. Your local Radio Shack store can help you choose the right adapter. Always plug the AC adapter into the Concertmate-570 before you plug the adapter into the AC outlet. Always unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug the adapter from the Concertmate-570. Follow these steps to use AC power. 1. Be sure POWER is set to OFF. 2. Connect the adapter's barrel plug to the adapter's cord, matching TIP to negative (-). 3. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 7.5 volts. 4. Insert the AC adapter's barrel plug into the DC 7.5V jack on the back of the Concertmate-570. 5. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. NOTES: The adapter might become warm during use. This is normal. When you are finished using the keyboard, set POWER to OFF, then unplug the adapter from the AC outlet. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER To power your Concertmate-570 from your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket, you need a DC adapter (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 270- 1560. CAUTIONS: The vehicle must have a 12-volt DC, negative-ground electrical system. Most vehicles have this type of system, but we recommend that you contact the vehicle's dealer if you are unsure. Using the Concertmate-570 with any other electrical system could damage the adapter, the Concertmate-570, or the vehicle's electrical system. You must use a DC adapter that supplies 7.5 volts of DC power and delivers at least 200 milliamps. Be sure POWER is set to OFF. 2. Connect the adapter's blue-tipped barrel plug to the adapter's cord, matching TIP to negative (-). 3. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 7.5 volts. 4. Insert the DC adapter's barrel plug into the DC 7.5V jack on the back of the Concertmate-570. 5. Plug the other end of the adapter into the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. NOTES: If the keyboard does not operate properly when you use the adapter, unplug the adapter from the cigarette lighter socket and clean the socket to remove ashes and debris. Also check the fuse for the cigarette lighter socket. The adapter might become warm during use. This is normal.
