Concertmate-570 Electronic Keyboard (420-4025) Operation Faxback Doc. # 32570 PLAYING YOUR KEYBOARD 1. To turn on the keyboard, set POWER to ON. 2. Press either VOLUME \/ to lower the sound, or /\ to make the sound louder. The volume level has five settings. The loudest setting is automatically selected whenever you turn on the keyboard. Before you press the keyboard keys, you might want to lower the volume. The keyboard makes a sound whenever you press a VOLUME button (unless a demo tune, a sound effect or a phrase is playing). A slightly different tone sounds when the volume setting reaches its highest or lowest level. 3. To hear a sample of the keyboard's different sounds, play the demonstration songs (see "Playing the Demonstration Songs"). To make your own music, play the black and white keys. 4. Your keyboard automatically selects the music box sound each time you turn it on. To select a different sounds, see "Changing the Sound." 5. To turn off the keyboard, set POWER to OFF. PLAYING THE DEMONSTRATION SONGS Your keyboard can play six different demonstration songs. Press the button for the demonstration song you want to hear. The tune continues to play until you press STOP or you select another tune. Rotate the Sound Wizard Dial to change the tempo. The faster you rotate the dial, the faster the tempo. Stop rotating the dial to pause the demonstration tune; rotate the dial again to resume play. Press STOP, then rotate the dial to play the demonstration song from the beginning. NOTE: Rotating the dial immediately after turning on power plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." SELECTING THE INSTRUMENT SOUND You can make your keyboard sound like: A Music Box Glass Harp Piano Organ Trumpet Flute Violin Bass Fiddle 1. Be sure POWER is set to OFF. 2. Each time you turn it on, your keyboard automatically selects the music box sound. To select a different instrument sounds, press the INSTRUMENT button of your choice. The keyboard sounds a sample note (A) as you press the button. 3. Play the black and white keys as you like. NOTE: You cannot change the sound of the demonstration tunes. USING THE SOUND WIZARD DIAL The Sound Wizard Dial lets you alter the keyboard's instrument sounds (piano, flute, music box, etc.), sound effects (trains, animals, sirens, etc.), and musical phrases (horror, carnival, etc.). Here's how the dial works. CHANGING THE INSTRUMENT SOUND After you select an instrument sound, the dial plays the selected sound without you pressing any additional keys. The sound changes according to how fast you rotate the dial. Press and hold up to four keyboard keys while you rotate the dial to hear the Sound Wizard Dial effect for the keys you are pressing. Rotating the dial immediately after you select an instrument sound (before you press any keyboard key) plays the sample note (A). Rotating the dial after playing on the keyboard plays the last note you touched. Try rotating the dial with each instrument sound and see how it affects the sound. CHANGING THE SOUND EFFECT Press any SOUND EFFECT button to select the sound effect you want the Sound Wizard Dial to control. The sound effect continues as long as you keep rotating the dial. When you stop rotating the dial, the sound effect stops. NOTE: You cannot play a song and a sound effect at the same time. While a sound effect is selected, the keyboard plays the same sound for every key you press. Animals - Rotate the dial to the right to hear dogs. The faster you rotate it, the more barking you hear. Rotate it to the left to hear birds. The faster you rotate it, the more chirping you hear. Cats meow when you change the rotation direction. Quiz - Rotate the dial in either direction to hear a typical melody that plays when waiting for the answer to a quick show question. Rotate the dial faster to indicate that time is running out. If you stop the dial while turning it clockwise, the keyboard sounds a fanfare for the correct answer. If you stop the dial while turning it counterclockwise, the keyboard sounds a buzzer for a wrong answer. Train - Rotate the dial to the right for the sound of an electric train and whistle. As you rotate the dial faster, the train builds up speed - it passes railroad crossings and goes across bridges. Rotate the dial to the left for the sound of a chugging steam locomotive and whistle. As you rotate the dial faster, the train chugs through railroad crossings and tunnel. Siren - The faster you rotate the dial, the louder and higher the siren sounds. When you stop rotating the dial, the sound slowly dies. Cheers - Rotate the dial faster to build up the intensity of the cheer. A whistle sounds each time you change the dial's rotation direction. Car - Rotate the dial to the right to hear the sounds of a video car race game. The faster you rotate the dial, the more cars you pass. Rotate the dial to the left to hear drag race sounds. The faster you rotate the dial, the more cars you pass - but be careful - too fast and you will hear a police siren! When you stop the dial, you hear squealing brakes. CHANGING THE MUSIC PHRASE Press any PHRASE button to select the music phrase you want the Sound Wizard Dial to control, then play with the musical phrases. The phrase continues to sound until you press STOP, stop rotating the dial, or select another sound (instrument, S.E., or demo song). NOTE: You cannot play a song while a music phrase is selected, because the keyboard plays the same sound for every key you press. Horror - Rotate the dial to hear the sound of a door creaking open and then slamming shut. Rotate the dial faster to hear the sound of mysterious footsteps - walking or running - and ghostly sounds. A clock tolls when you change the rotation direction. Country & Western - Rotate the dial clockwise to hear a lively country and western melody with a banjo and the sound of running horses. Rotate the dial faster to add the sound of gunshots. Rotate the dial counterclockwise to produce the sounds of a slower banjo and slowly walking horse. A pistol shot rings out when you change the rotation direction. Carnival - Rotate the dial to hear samba rhythms. Rotate the dial faster to increase the number of instruments playing. A samba whistle sounds when you change the rotation direction. Rap - Rotate the dial to hear drum and scratch rhythms. Rotate the dial faster to increase the number of instruments playing.
