Temperature Alert Thermometer with Remote Sensor (630-1011) Operation Faxback Doc. # 19308 IMPORTANT: If the temperature falls below -58 degreesF (-50 degreesC), LLF (Low Low Fahrenheit) or LLC (Low Low Celsius) appears on the display and/or the display gradually fades out. When the temperature returns to within the measurement range, the display returns to normal. If the temperature exceeds 158 degreesF (70 degreesC), HHF (High High Fahrenheit) or HHC (High High Celsius) appears on the display and/or the display goes blank. When the temperature returns to within the measurement range, the display returns to within the measurement range, the display returns to normal. After you change the degree format or sampling cycle, you must press RESET. Otherwise, the thermometer continues to use the previous settings. After you press RESET, the thermometer briefly displays -188E then the current temperature. Pressing RESET clears the LO and HI temperatures and resets both to the default settings (see "Setting the LO/HI Alarm Temperatures"). Pressing RESET clears the MIN and MAX temperatures and resets both to the current temperature (see "Displaying/Clearing the MAX/MIN Temperatures"). Changing the Degree Format You can set the thermometer to display the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. 1. Set degreesC/degreesF on the back of the thermometer to degreesC for a Celsius reading, or degreesF for a Fahrenheit reading. 2. Carefully insert a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, into RESET and press down gently to reset the memory. Changing the Sampling Cycle Your thermometer is preset to measure the temperature and update the display every 60 seconds. For a more frequent measurement, you can change the sampling cycle time to 10 seconds. Follow these steps to change the sampling cycle. 1. Set FAST/NORMAL on the back of the thermometer to FAST for a temperature reading every 10 seconds, or to NORMAL for a reading every 60 seconds. NOTE: To conserve battery power, use the NORMAL setting. 2. Carefully insert a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, into RESET and press down gently to reset the memory. Measuring the Temperature To measure the temperature through the remote sensor, remove the battery compartment cover, then plug the sensor cord into the jack inside the compartment. To measure the temperature at the thermometer, simply unplug the remote sensor's cord from the jack inside the battery compartment. Displaying/Clearing the MAX MIN Temperatures To view the highest (MAX) and lowest (MIN) temperatures recorded since the last memory reset, press MODE until they appear on the display. To reset the MAX temperature, press RESET MAX on the back of the thermometer. To reset the MIN temperature, press RESET MIN. To reset both the MAX and MIN temperatures at the same time, press MEMORY CLEAR on the front of the thermometer. NOTES: After you press RESET MAX, RESET MIN, or MEMORY CLEAR, the thermometer briefly displays -188, then the current temperature. Pressing RESET also clears the MIN and MAX temperatures and resets both to the current temperature. Setting the LO/HI Alarm Temperatures You can set the thermometer to sound an alarm when a set low (LO) or high (HI) temperature is reached. The thermometer has preset LO (50 degreesF, 10 degreesC) and HI (86 degreesF, 30 degreesC) alarm settings. To change the LO and HI settings, follow these steps. 1. Press MODE so the LO and HI temperatures appear on the display. 2. Repeatedly press LO and HI to set the desired low and high temperatures. NOTES: When setting LO and HI, the display cycles upward only. For example, when the display reaches the upper limit (limit (158 degreesF, 70 degressC), it drops back to the lower limit (-58 degreesF, -50 degressC) and resumes cycling upward. To rapidly change the settings, press and hold down LO or HI. The LO setting must be lower than the currently displayed temperature and the HI setting must be higher than the currently displayed temperature. Otherwise, the alarm will not sound. Using the Alarm To turn on the alarm, set ALARM ON/OFF to ON. When the temperature exceeds either the LO or HI setting, the alarm sounds for 1 minute then sounds for about 3 seconds every minute for 12 hours, and the LO or HI temperature, whichever triggered the alarm, continuously flashes. NOTE: When you press MODE while the alarm is sounding, LO or HI, whichever triggered the alarm, flashes on the display. To silence the alarm before it automatically stops, press either MEMORY CLEAR, RESET MIN, RESET MAX, LO, or HI. The alarm sounds again the next time the temperature exceeds the LO or HI setting. To silence the alarm and turn it off so it will not sound again, set ALARM ON/OFF to OFF. (JC 12/29/95)
