Blood Pressure Monitor (630-0639) Power Source Faxback Doc. # 3431 INSTALLING THE BATTERIES You need four AA batteries (not supplied) to power the monitor. For the best performance, we recommend Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552. Follow these steps to install the batteries. 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover and slide it off in the direction of the arrow. 2. Install the four AA batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment. 3. Replace the cover. Notes: Never leave weak or dead batteries inside the monitor. If you are not going to use the monitor for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. When batteries become weak, SYMBOL appears on the display. Replace the batteries. USING AC POWER You can power your monitor from AC power, using an AC adapter such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1655 (not supplied). Caution: You must use an AC adapter that supplies regulated 6 volts and delivers at least 700 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to positive, and its plug must correctly fit the monitor's DC 6V jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the monitor or the adapter. Follow these steps to use an AC adapter: 1. Set tip polarity on the AC adapter to positive (+), following the instructions supplied with the adapter. 2. Insert the adapter's plug into the monitor's DC 6V jack. 3. Plug the other end to the adapter into a standard AC outlet. Caution: When you finish using the AC adapter, disconnect it from the AC outlet first, then unplug it from the monitor. INDICATORS Symbol : DOWN ARROW (Exhaust) Indication : Cuff is ready to exhaust air. Meaning : Automatic exhaust takes place. Symbol : UP ARROW (Insufficient Pressure) Indication : sufficient inflation to measure systolic pressure. Meaning : Set to a higher pressure level and try again. Symbol : Heart SYMBOL (Measuring in progress) Indication : Measurement is in progress. Meaning : A pulse rate is detected (heart symbol flashes with your pulse). Symbol : SYMBOL Low Batteries Indication : The batteries are weak. Meaning : Replace the batteries. Symbol : M SYMBOL (Memory) Indication : Latest readings stored in memory. Meaning : Readings from last measurement appear on the display. Symbol : Err (Measuring error) Indication : Appears when the monitor cannot obtain an accurate blood pressure reading. Meaning : Remove the cuff and reattach it properly, then try again. Symbol : PUL Err (Pulse error) Indication : Appears when the monitor cannot obtain an accurate pulse rate. Meaning : Remove the cuff and reattach it properly, then try again. (br/all-12/05/94)
