TAD-325 (430-0396) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 14143 Choosing a Location Choose a location for the TAD that lets it sit flat and level. Be sure it is convenient to a telephone jack and an AC outlet and the cords are out of the way. Connecting the TAD to the Telephone Line The TAD-325 comes with a modular plug installed on the end of the phone cable. Plug it into an RJ-11 jack. If you intend to connect both the TAD-325 and your phone to the same jack, you need a duplex jack, such as our Cat. No. 279-357. If your phone uses the old-style 4-pin jack or if your telephone is wired directly to the wall, Radio Shack sells easy-to-install accessories for conversion to the modular jack, or you can ask the telephone company to make this change for you. Note: Your telephone company is authorized to charge you for the installation of jacks or any other necessary wiring. Setting the Remote Control Security Code The Remote Control Code is a "password" allowing you to activate your TAD from a remote location. It prevents unauthorized persons from controlling your TAD. The code, which you must set before you can have a remote access to your TAD, is a two-digit number from 00 to 99. You set it using the two rotary REMOTE CODE switches on the bottom of the TAD. With the MASTER POWER switch set to off, turn the arrow on the REMOTE CODE switch to the desired number using the supplied tool. Important: Be sure that the power cord is not plugged into the AC outlet or the MASTER POWER switch is set to OFF, when you set/change the REMOTE CODE switches. Connecting the TAD to the POWER Line 1. Plug the power cord into a standard AC wall outlet. 2. Turn the MASTER POWER switch on. The switch is located on the right side of the TAD. The STOP indicator lights. Note: The number you set on the left REMOTE CODE switch 1 is the first digit of the two-digit code; the number on the right switch 2 is the second digit. Important: When the MASTER POWER switch is off, the TAD is completely off and does not respond to any commands. Put the switch in the OFF position when you do not want the TAD to respond to the remote turn-on feature. (LB/all-03/13/95)
