Pocket Tone Dialer (430-0145) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15950 Follow these steps to dial a number. 1. Place the dialer's rubber ring against the phone's mouthpiece. 2. Set ON/OFF to ON. 3. Dial the desired numbers on the dialer's keypad. NOTE: If you want to use an alternate long distance service (or other computer-based service) from a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, you must use the phone's dial to call the service's local number. The you can use the tone dialer to communicate with the service's computer. Operating Tips The tones generated by the tone dialer are accurate and strong enough to activate most equipment. However, older telephones that have microphones with poor sensitivity might not receive the tones properly. As a result, the equipment might not operate, or might operate incorrectly. In some cases, the following procedure improves operation with old telephones. 1. Hold the telephone's handset vertically. 2. Be sure the tone dialer's rubber ring is directly over the handset's mouthpiece. If you still have problems, lightly tap the handset several times on a hard surface. These taps loosen the carbon particles in the microphone, which makes the microphone perform better. (TE/all-07/18/95)
