Technophone 901 (170-1015) Using the Memory Faxback Doc. # 17779 There are 100 memory locations, numbered 00 to 99. Location 00 is used only for the last number dialed (number is stored automatically); each of the other 99 locations may be used to store any telephone number. Locations 97 and 98 can be used for the two user specified Easy Dial numbers. A name can be stored with the number in each location. Each location can contain a number of up to 32 digits, or a number of up to 16 digits plus a name of up to 8 characters. Contents of any location can be recalled for reference or redialing. Contents of any location can be protected (by your PIN) from unauthorized recall. The first character of the name must be a *, and the 'Memory Lock' function (D6) must be on. When in store (STO) or recall (RCL) mode, key presses must take place within 7 seconds (approx.) of each other, otherwise the mode will be canceled. EASY DIALING Allows you to quickly and easily dial frequently used numbers. There are two user definable Easy Dial numbers, stored in memory locations 97 and 98. These numbers are stored in the normal way as described in 'Storing a Number'. The Easy Dial keys *EZ1 and *EZ2 are used to recall and dial the numbers. An example of the use of the Easy Dial keys is to assign one to your Voice Mail telephone number and the other to your office or home number. The Emergency Services and Operator are assigned Easy Dial numbers that are programmed into the telephone by your cellular operator. Key 9WXY is used for the Emergency Services and key 0OPR is used for the Operator. To Easy Dial the Number Stored in Memory Location 97: Press and hold the *EZ1 key for at least 2 seconds. The telephone number stored in this location is recalled, displayed and then dialed. Once the call is established, the CALL light is illuminated, and the normal display returns. If the location is empty 'MEM EMPTY' is displayed, and an error tone is heard. #EZ (memory location 98) is used in the same fashion. STORING A NUMBER To store a number, key in the phone number up to a maximum of 32 digits. If more than 16 digits are entered, the display alternates between the last 16 digits entered and the remaining digits. MEM 03 Press STO to locate the first available (empty) memory EMPTY location (for example, location 03). The normal display returns after a few seconds if no further keys are pressed. You can now store the number in: the first available location, or another available location, or a specific location. To store in the first available location: 456 7890 Press STO to store the telephone number in the ALPHA first available memory location. If the number contains up to 16 digits, the ALPHA indicator will be displayed and you may associate a name with the telephone number. Refer to 'Storing a Number and a Name'. MEM 03 If the ALPHA indicator is displayed but you do not EMPTY wish to store an associated name with the telephone number, press STO to return to the normal display. If the number consists of more than 16 digits, the ALPHA indicator is not displayed; in this case the normal display will return after the number is stored. To store in another available location: MEM 04 Press #EZ2 to reach the next location (e.g., location EMPTY 04), or *EZ1 to reach the previous location. Press STO to store the telephone number in the selected memory location. If the ALPHA indicator is displayed, you may enter a name as before. To store in a specific location (e.g., memory location 7): NOTE: Memory locations 97 and 98 should be reserved for the telephone numbers you use most often, for example a Voice Mail number. Numbers stored in these locations can be dialed with a single key press using the *EZ and *EZ keys. Refer to 'Easy Dialing'. MEM 07 Press 0OPR 7PRS to select memory location number 7. EMPTY If the location is occupied, the telephone produces an error tone and the contents of the memory (digits only) are displayed for a few seconds. If you want, you can replace the telephone number currently stored in this location. Alternatively, you may select another memory location. If the location is empty, or if you want to replace the contents of a full memory location: Press STO. The telephone number is stored in the selected memory location. If the ALPHA indicator is displayed, you may enter a name as before. STORING A NUMBER AND A NAME Enter the number as described in the preceding instructions; stop when the ALPHA indicator is displayed and then enter a name as detailed in the following example. 456 7890 NOTE: If the number consists of more than 16 digits, ALPHA name entry will not be offered. The keypad can now be used to enter a name up to 8 letters long. Each key has letters marked on it; for each key, one press displays the first letter, two presses displays the second letter and three presses displays the third letter. Numeric key 1 has the alpha characters of Q, Z and space; when in alpha mode do not enter a space as the first character. The * character may be entered at the beginning of a name to allow the memory location to be protected (by your PIN) from unauthorized recall. Refer to the Security Menu 'Memory Lock' function (D6). To enter the Enter the letter 'S': name 'SAM': Press 7 PRS (P, R, S), 7PRS (P, R, S), 7PRS (P, R, S), STO. Enter the letter 'A': Press 2ABC (A, B, C), STO. Enter the letter 'M': SAM - 456 7890 Press 6MNO (M, N, O), STO. ALPHA MEM 03 Press STO to complete the operation. The number and STORED associated name are now stored in the selected memory location. The telephone then returns to the normal display. RECALLING A STORED NUMBER To Recall the Contents of Memory Location 5: Press RCL and the display prompts you to enter the memory location number. Press 0OPR 5JKL to reveal the contents of location number 5. If the location contains more than 16 digits, the display MEM - - alternates between the last 16 digits entered and the remaining digits. If the location contains a name, the name is displayed initially, followed by the memory location number, and finally the telephone number. The last number dialed (which is stored automatically in location 00) can be recalled by pressing RCL 0OPR 0OPR or RCL RCL. When the recalled telephone number is displayed, you may carry out any of the following: Dial the number: Press SEND. Edit the number: Press CLR to delete digits, then enter further digits, as required. The number can then be stored in any location using the previous instructions. Return to the normal display: Press END or CLR. MEMORY SCROLLING Allows you to view successive memory locations. When storing a number in memory, you can scroll through the available (or empty) locations only. You may directly select an occupied location, but you cannot scroll to one. When recalling a number from memory you can scroll through the occupied (or full) locations only. Note that you can scroll past location 99 to reach location 00 and similarly, scroll backwards from location 00 to location 99. To Scroll through Occupied Locations: First recall a number, then scroll through the other occupied locations. To reach the next (full) location press #EZ2 or RCL. To reach the previous location press *EZ1. The memory location contents are displayed in the same way as when recalling a stored number. This allows the name (if any) and full telephone number to be viewed for each location in turn. To Scroll Through Empty Locations: If you want to store a number, press STO to reach the first unoccupied memory location. To reach the next (empty) location press #EZ2. To reach the previous location press *EZ1. SPEED DIALING Allows you to call the number stored in any memory location. To Speed Dial Memory Location 3: Press 3DEF SEND. The telephone number stored in this location is recalled, displayed and then dialed. Once the call is established, the CALL light is illuminated, and the normal display returns. For convenience, use locations 1-9 for speed dialing. If the location is empty 'MEM EMPTY' is displayed, and an error tone is heard. ERASING A MEMORY LOCATION To permanently erase the contents of a memory location, see below. CAUTION: Once erased, the contents cannot be recalled. To Erase Memory Location 15: With the display clear, press STO 102 5JKL. The contents of the location are displayed, and a warning tone will be heard. You may then, either: Erase the contents: MEM 15 Press STO. EMPTY or Return to normal operation, without erasing the contents: Press CLR. To erase ALL the memory locations, use the Security Menu 'Erase Whole Memory' function (D5). SCRATCHPAD MEMORY Allows you to record a number during a call. Enter the desired number.
