Technophone 901 (170-1015) Menus Faxback Doc. # 17780 The Advanced Functions are arranged in four menus: General (A) containing regularly-used functions (e.g., A0, A1, etc.). Volume (B) containing functions affecting sounds generated by the telephone. Timer (C) containing functions relating to timed operations. Security (D) Containing secure functions; in order to access these, you must first enter your 4-digit PIN code. Most menu functions have two or more options (e.g. 'ON' and 'OFF') any one of which can be selected. Using the menus, you may: view any currently-selected options, or view the other options available, or select an option. TO USE THE MENUS To enter the General Menu from the normal display: Press MU. To move to a different menu when you are already in a menu, use the appropriate entry function (A0, B0, etc.). Refer to the Menu descriptions. To step to the previous menu: For example, from any function within the Volume Menu, press CLR and you will return to the General Menu. Note that you can use CLR to exit the General Menu and return to the normal display. To exit from the Menus: Press END to return to the normal display. To enter the Security Menu from a normal display: Press MU MU MU MU then enter your 4 digit PIN: a. On a new telephone, or if the PIN code has not been changed, press 0OPR 0OPR 0OPR 0OPR, or b. If you have changed the PIN, enter the 4-digits of your new number; refer to 'Change PIN' (D4). ACCESSING FUNCTIONS To scroll to the first function in a selected menu (e.g., from A0 to A1): Press #EZ2. To scroll to other functions in the same menu (e.g., to A7): Press #EZ2 (next) repeatedly, or *EZ1 (previous) repeatedly. To access functions in a menu directly (e.g., to A5): From within the General Menu press 5JKL and jump directly to function A5 (System Select). To reach an Advanced Function directly, from the normal display: Use the MU key to get to the desired menu and then press a number key to access the function in that menu. For example, reach function A5 in the General Menu, press MU then 5JKL . Similarly, to access function C2 in the Timer Menu, press MU MU MU 2ABC. For more details, refer to the following descriptions. SOLICITING OPTIONS To select the next option for any function displayed (e.g., from 'On' to 'Off'): Press MU. For functions with several options, press MU repeatedly until the required option is displayed. The last option displayed in a menu function is the one that is selected when you exit the function. General Menu (Menu A) The General Menu allows you to access the following regularly used functions: A0 Entry to Volume Menu A1 Alpha Search A2 Hands Free Mode A3 Timed Backlight A4 Message Language A5 System Select A6 Ignition Sense A7 Datalink Select To access the General Menu from the normal display, press MU. The descriptions for functions A1 to A7 assume that you have accessed them directly from the normal display. Entry to Allows access to Volume Menu, while scrolling in Gen- Volume eral Menu. Menu (A0) NEXT Press 0OPR to access the function from within the MENU General Menu. VOLUME Press MU to enter Volume Menu. MENU Alpha Allows you to search all occupied memory locations, (Name) scroll all matching names, and dial a number associ- Search ated with a matching name. (A1) Each digit key has letters marked on it: Pressing one key will start a search for all names whose first letter matches any of the letters on the key. Pressing a second key will cause a search for all names whose first letter matches any of the letters on the first key, and whose second letter matches any of the letters on the second key. Additional keypresses will further specify the name(s) to be searched. Normally, only two or three keypresses will be required. ALPHA SEARCH Press MU 102 to access the function. ENTER NAME Press MU. (If the telephone has just been switched on, the message 'PLEASE WAIT' may be displayed briefly.) Press the required digit key; e.g., to search for Robert press 7PRS (which will search for any names in memory beginning with P, R or S). To further specify the name, press digit keys corresponding to subsequent letters in the name. The name (on the top line) will clear, after a short time, to reveal the remaining part of the number. To scroll all matching names: Press #EZ2 for next name or *EZ1 for previous name. MEM 02 To clear name and show memory location number press CLR. 123 4567 123 To show an entire number press CLR again. (or wait for a 456 7890 short while, and number will appear automatically). To dial the number press SEND. If there is no match, the message 'NO MATCH FOUND' will be displayed, and an error tone will be heard. Press END to exit. HANDSFREE MODE Hands-free mode is available with the Mobile telephone, and is optional with the Soft Pack Transportable. (A2) This function allows you to select: 'H/F' PRESENT Use this option if telephone has hands-free mode available. (DTMF tones, when sent, will be heard from the cradle loudspeaker.) 'H/F NOT PRESENT' Use this option if telephone is a Soft Pack Transportable without the hands-free option. (DTMF tones may be sent as normal, but will be heard only as single tones via the handset.) H/F NOT Press MU 2ABC to access the function, and display current PRESENT status. To select other option 'H/F PRESENT'/'H/F NOT PRESENT') Press MU. Press END to exit. When using a Soft Pack Transportable having no hands-free option (i.e., no cradle), silent ringing can be achieved by selecting the option 'H/F Present'. Silent ringing causes only the telephone's illumination to flash when the telephone rings. Timed Selects option for keypad and display illumination Backlight (backlighting): (A3) 'B.LIGHT TIMED' Illumination is on for 20 seconds (approx.) after each keypress, or 'B.Light ON' Illumination is on permanently. Select 'B.LIGHT TIMED' if using a Soft Pack Trans- portable powered from the internal battery (to con- serve battery power). B. LIGHT Press MU 3DEF to access the function, and display current TIMED status. To select other option ('B. LIGHT ON'/B.LIGHT TIMED') press MU. Press END to exit. Message Language Sets the language for all displayed messages to English, Spanish or French. (A4) ENGLISH Press MU 4GHI to access the function, and display current status. To select another language ('ESPAN.'/'FRANC.'/ENGLISH') press MU. Press END to exit. System Select Selects Preferred System, Non-preferred System, Home Area or Automatic selection. (A5) Telephone will Roam if not in Home Area or if on a Non-preferred System. SYS SEL Press MU 5JKL to access the function, and display current PREF status. To select next option press MU. Display indicators: 'SYS SEL PREF' Telephone will only attempt to use Preferred System. 'SYS SEL NON-P' Telephone will only attempt to use Non- preferred System. 'SYS SEL HOME' Telephone will only attempt to use Home Area and Preferred System. 'SYS SEL AUTO' Telephone will attempt to use Preferred System or, if this is not possible, the Non- preferred System. Press END to exit. IGNITION SENSE (A6) Operates only if ignition-sense wiring is connected. When ignition sense is enabled the telephone can be switched on and off by the ignition key (in addition to PWR, and your 4-digit PIN if telephone is locked). NO IGNIT Press MU 6MNO to access the function, and display current SENSE status. To select other option 'IGNIT SENSE'/'NO IGNIT SENSE') press MU. Press END to exit. Set to 'NO IGNIT SENSE' if function is not required. DATALINK SELECT (A7) Allows the connection of a Data/Voice selection accessory. When set to 'On' adjusts the telephone audio output volume to be compatible with the operation of the accessory and disables the normal volume control function. When set to 'Off', restores normal volume control operation. DATALINK OFF Press MU 7PRS to access the function; and display current status.
