REMOTELY SETTING THE TAD TO ANSWER CALLS If you leave your home or office without setting the TAD to answer calls, you can set it remotely from any phone. To set the TAD to answer calls, dial the phone number and let the phone ring until the TAD answers (about 1 minute). During or at the end of the announcement, hang up the phone. This sets the TAD to answer calls. Or, instead of hanging up, you can retrieve messages or enter other remote commands (see "Using Remote Commands," below). USING REMOTE COMMANDS To operate the TAD from a remote location, follow these steps. 1. Dial the phone number. 2. When the announcement begins, press *. The TAD says, "Enter code." 3. Enter each of the two digits of your remote operation security code. Be sure to press each key for at least a half second. NOTE: If you do not enter the correct remote code within 10 seconds, the TAD says "First error." If you enter an incorrect remote operation security code the second time, the TAD says "Second error." If you make a third unsuccessful attempt, the TAD completes the announcement and records your call as an incoming message. 4. The TAD tells you the current message count, plays your messages, and says, "Enter command or star for help (see "List of Remote Commands," above). NOTE: If you do not enter a command within 10 seconds, the TAD hangs up. If you enter the correct code, but the TAD does not accept it, the code might have reset to the default (11) because of a long power failure. Try entering 11 as the remote operation security code. If this works, replace the backup batteries and reset the security code (see "Setting the Clock, Calendar, Record Time, and Remote Code," Faxback Doc. # 18450, Preparation). (PH 10/26/95)
