ET-504 (430-1007) Operation Faxback Doc. # 18562 For the best reception, stand the base's antenna up and extend the handset antenna to its full length. ANSWERING/MAKING A CALL To answer and make calls, be sure power OFF-ON on the handset is set to ON. If the handset is on the base when you receive a call, simply lift the handset and speak. If the handset is not on the base, press TALK before speaking. To make a call when the phone is on the base, pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you do not hear a dial tone or if the handset is not on the base, press TALK before you dial. The TALK indicator on the handset and the IN USE indicator on the base light while the phone is in use. NOTE: Each time you press a button, a tone sounds to indicate that the phone accepted the command. If two tones sound, either you pressed a wrong button, you are out of range, or there is too much interference. To disconnect a call, place the handset on the base or press TALK. The TALK and IN USE indicators on the base turn off. USING REDIAL Press REDIAL to quickly redial the last number dialed. The redial memory holds up to 31 digits (32 in pulse mode) so you can redial long-distance as well as local numbers. USING FLASH FLASH sends the electronic equivalent of a switchhook signal. Use FLASH with special phone company services such as call waiting. If you have call waiting, press FLASH to take an incoming call without disconnecting the current call. Press FLASH again to return to the first call. NOTE: If you do not have any special phone services, pressing FLASH might disconnect your current call. USING MUTE Press and hold down MUTE to talk to someone else in the room without the person on the other end of the phone hearing your conversation. (You still hear the other person.) Release MUTE to resume your phone conversation. USING PAGE The page function helps you locate a misplaced handset. If the handset's power is on, and is not in use, the handset rings when you press PAGE on the base. TEMPORARY TONE DIALING If you have pulse service, you can dial a number as usual, then temporarily switch to tone service for banking services or computer transactions. Simply press */TONE at the appropriate place in the call to change to tone dialing. When you complete the call, place the handset on the base or press TALK to disconnect the call. The next call is automatically dialed using pulse since TONE-PULSE is still set to PULSE. (CS 12/7/95)
