ET-504 (430-1007) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 18564 We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone, but if you do, the following guidelines might help. If you still have problems, take the phone to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. If someone picks up another phone on the same line, the volume level might drop or you might hear unusual sounds. If this happens, hang up the other phone. If your phone does not work or works poorly, check the connection to the phone line. If the call is too noisy, hang up and redial the number. If you still have problems, disconnect the phone. If other phones on the same line work properly, the fault is in this phone or its installation. If you cannot locate the problem, take your phone to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. If interference is severe, try the following: If you receive interference from another cordless phone, you can exchange your phone for one with a different operating frequency, if you return it within 30 days of the date of purchase. The frequency code is recorded on a round sticker on the handset and base with the letter I, M, N, or O. Keep the handset away from sources of interference such as computers, remote control toys, wireless microphones, wireless alarm systems, wireless intercoms and room monitors, fluorescent lights, and electrical appliances. If the interference is severe, turn off the interfering device. If the range decreases, try the following: Stand the base's antenna up and extend both antennas to their full lengths. Return the handset to the cradle to recharge the battery. Be sure the antennas are not touching a metal surface. If the phone does not work, try the following: Be sure power OFF-ON is set to ON. Move the handset closer to the base. Be sure the phone line cord and AC adapter are correctly and securely connected. Be sure the battery is charged. (If the battery is too low, it does not have enough power to light the BAT.LOW indicator.) Set power OFF-ON on the handset to ON and return the handset to the cradle for 5 seconds. This resets the security access code. If there is a power failure, return the handset to the cradle to reset the security code. This is for you security so another handset cannot access your base unit/phone line. (CS 12/7/95)
