TAD-222 Telephone Answering System (430-0722) Remote Operation Faxback Doc. # 18779 While you are away from your home or office, you can use a touch-tone phone, or a pulse phone with a pocket tone dialer (such as Cat. No. 43-139), to do any of the following: Set the TAD to start or stop answering calls. Play or erase your messages Record a new outgoing message NOTES: If you are using a pulse phone, follow the pocket tone dialer's instructions. Your one-digit remote operation security code is on the bottom of the TAD. REMOTE ANSWER-ON NOTE: You must record an outgoing message before you can remotely set the TAD to answer calls. 1. Dial your phone number. After 60 seconds, the TAD answers with four beeps. 2. Enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds. The TAD beeps once, plays the outgoing message, then begins recording. NOTES: If you do not enter the security code within 8 seconds. The TAD beeps once, plays the outgoing message, then begins recording. If you do not enter the security code within 8 seconds, the TAD disconnects the call. 3. Hang up. NOTE: If you want to use any remote control commands at this point, see "Using Remote Control Command," below. USING REMOTE CONTROL COMMANDS Follow these steps to operate the TAD from a remote phone. NOTE: The TAD resets itself to answer calls after remote operation, unless you enter remote control command 2 (Answer Off) without listening to your messages. 1. Dial your phone number. 2. After the outgoing message plays and the TAD sounds a beep, enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds. Hold down each button for at least 2 seconds. NOTES: If you do not correctly enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds, the TAD disconnects the call. If the tape is full when you call the TAD, the TAD sounds eight beeps instead of the outgoing message. Enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds. 3. After the TAD beeps (a command prompt), enter a remote command within 8 seconds by pressing the number for the desired command. See "Remote Control Command Descriptions," below). After each operation, the TAD beeps. To end remote operation, hang up the phone. NOTES: If you do not enter a command within 8 seconds after a command prompt, the TAD sounds a beep and hangs up. If you hang up while the TAD plays back messages, the TAD might not recognize that you hung up. If someone calls while the TAD continues to play the messages, the caller hears a busy signal. Remote Control Command Descriptions Key Command Descriptions 1 Record Outgoing Press 1 to record a new outgoing message. Message After the TAD sounds one short then one long beep, begin your new outgoing message. When you finish your message, press 1 again to end the recording. The TAD replays your new outgoing message. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Remote Answer Without listening to your messages first, Off press 2 to set the TAD to not answer incoming calls. The TAD beeps, disconnects the call, and turns off. Erase Messages After you listen to your incoming messages, the TAD beeps twice. Press 2 to have the TAD record new messages over the old ones. The TAD beeps twice then erases the messages. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Remote Play Press 3 to play the incoming messages. The TAD sounds tones while it rewinds the tape. Then it beeps and plays back your incoming messages. Replay Messages After playing your messages, the TAD beeps twice. Press 3 twice.
