TAD-518 Dual Cassette Telephone Answering System (430-0715) Remote Control Operation Faxback Doc. # 18962 While you are away from your home or office, you can use a touch-tone phone or a rotary phone with a pocket tone dialer to do any of the following: Enter your security code Set the TAD to answer calls Listen to your messages Record new announcements Record new incoming messages (after listening to your messages) Erase messages Monitor the room where the TAD is located REMOTE ANSWER-ON You can use any remote phone to set the TAD to answer calls. The TAD must be plugged into AC power, and the outgoing message tape must be installed. NOTE: An outgoing message tape is not required if you select the ANNOUNCE ONLY mode. To remotely set the TAD to answer calls, dial your phone number and wait about 12-14 rings until the TAD answers. Once the TAD answers, it is set to answer calls. Hang up the phone or proceed with remote operation beginning with Step 2 under "Using Remote Control Commands." USING THE TOLL SAVER When you call the TAD, the TAD answers after about two rings if you have new messages (ones you have not played). If not, the TAD waits for about four rings before it answers. This gives you time to hang up before the TAD answers so you can avoid unnecessary long-distance charges. USING REMOTE CONTROL COMMANDS NOTE: To operate the TAD from a remote phone, you must know the remote operation security code shown on the bottom of the TAD. 1. Dial your phone number. 2. When the outgoing announcement begins, press 2 to bypass the announcement. The announcement stops, and the TAD beeps. 3. Enter the 3-digit remote operation security code within 7 seconds. Be sure to press each button for at least 1/2 second. The TAD beeps twice. NOTE: If no beeps sound, re-enter the code. The TAD sounds a tone while it rewinds. Then the TAD plays back the incoming messages. After all the messages play, the TAD beeps twice. Enter a remote control command (see "Remote Control Command Descriptions") or hang up the phone (messages are saved unless you specifically delete them.) NOTES: The TAD automatically resets to answer calls after you hang up. If your telephone line has CPC service and you hang up while the TAD is playing back the messages, it stops playback immediately and saves the messages. If you do not have CPC service and you hang up while the TAD is playing back messages, the TAD might not recognize that you hung up. If someone calls while the TAD continues to play the messages, the caller hears a busy signal. Remote Control Command Descriptions To: Do This: Rewind the incoming message tape Press 2.
