ET-330 Cordless Electronic Telephone System (430-0267) Handset Faxback Doc. # 19214 OPERATION SUMMARY Telescopic Antenna - Extends fully to maintain maximum communication range. Receiver (Behind Grille) - Operates the same as the receiver in a regular telephone. The "ring" from an outside call comes from the receiver, unless an intercom call is in progress. The Handset also rings when the CALL key on the Base Unit is pressed. The two rings are different, so that you can tell an outside call from an intercom call. CAUTION: Make sure the TALK indicator is on before you put the receiver to your ear. This prevents your receiving a very loud "ring" tone in you ear. PHONE READY/OFF Switch - Turns the Handset on and off. Set the switch to READY when you want to make or receive a call. [0] through [9] Keys - Dial telephone numbers or enter them into the memory. PAUSE [*] KEY - Adds a pause when entering a number into the memory or when dialing a number that will be redialed using the REDIAL key. This is sometimes necessary when accessing an outside line from an office. REDIAL[#] Key - When pressed, automatically redials the last manually dialed number. HANG-UP Key - When pressed, disconnects the Handset from the phone line. (This is like hanging up a regular telephone.) Press it until the TALK indicator goes off. TALK Key - When pressed, connects the Handset to the phone line. (This is like lifting the receiver on a regular telephone.) Press it until the TALK indicator lights. A/B Keys - When pressed, enters or automatically dials telephone numbers for memory-dialing. Each memory position will store up to 10 digits. MEMORY Key - When pressed, prepares the memory (A or B) for storing a telephone number. DC 9V Charge Jack - Provides the connection for charging of the Handset away from the Base Unit. Connect an AC adapter/charger here (Cat. No. 273-1455). Charging Contacts - Receive power from the Base Unit charging contacts when the Handset is on the Base. Mic (Behind Grille) - Operates the same as the microphone in a regular telephone. Important: If you are returning the Handset to the Base Unit or do not want to make or receive calls, press the HANG-UP key before you move the READY/OFF switch to OFF. If you do not do this, the phone line will remain active. PRIVACY Key - When pressed and held, temporarily disconnects the microphone in the Handset; the phone line remains active, but no sound is transmitted. Release the key to continue your conversation. VOLUME HI/LO Switch - Selects the listening level on the Handset. RINGER HI/LO Switch - Selects the ringer loudness level from the Handset. TALK Indicator - Lights when the TALK or CALL key is pressed (to indicate the Handset is "on the line"). BATTery LOW Indicator - Lights when the nickel-cadmium batteries need to be recharged. NOTE: The BATT LOW Indicator will flicker when you move the READY/OFF switch. This is normal and does not indicate weak batteries. The batteries need recharging only when the indicator stays on. Of course, if the batteries are allowed to discharge completely, the indicator will not light. CALL Key - Press to signal the Base Unit (for an intercom call,etc.). (CS 12/19/95)
