ET-330 Cordless Electronic Telephone System (430-0267) Security Code Faxback Doc. # 19217 ENTERING THE SECURITY CODE Understanding the Security Code The exclusive programmable security code feature built into your ET-330 will prevent unauthorized use of your phone line. Each time you press TALK, your personally selected security code is automatically transmitted from the Handset to the Base Unit. The Base Unit compares the code from the Handset with its security code. If the two codes are the same, you may proceed with the call; if they are not the same, the Handset will sound an error signal and the TALK indicator will go off. Once you have entered the security code, the above "verification" procedure takes place automatically each time you press TALK. To Enter the Code 1. Press the CODE ENTER button on the back of the Base Unit. You will hear a short tone from the Handset and its TALK indicator will light. 2. Enter any four-digit number on the Handset keypad. (Use 0-9 keys only.) The TALK indicator will go off and you will hear another short tone. Your security code has now been entered in the Handset and the Base Unit. Security Code Hints The security code will be lost, and must be re-entered, if you allow the Handset battery pack to discharge completely or if you unplug the Base Unit without having a backup battery installed. If the code is lost, you will hear the error signal when you press TALK. Enter the security code "before" you install the backup battery. The security code prevents other cordless telephones from initiating or answering a call on your phone line. It does not prevent other radio units on the same frequency from inadvertently hearing your conversation or causing interference on your ET-330; this can happen with any cordless telephone. You may program more than one Handset with the same security code. (CS 12/19/95)
