Its special features include: Advanced Super CCT Circuitry - provides clarity comparable to a standard phone, reduces background noise, and increases effective operating distance. Automatic Access-Protection Code - uses a security access code to prevent another cordless phone user from using your phone while the handset is off the base. The code changes automatically every time the handset is placed on the base. COM-LOK - prevents other phones from using your line while the handset is on the base. Redial - gives you one touch redial of the last number dialed. Flash - sends an electronic switch-hook signal for use with special phone services such as call waiting. Touch-Tone or Pulse (Rotary) - lets you connect your phone to either type Dialing of service. Hearing Aid Compatibility - lets you use this phone with hearing aids that have a T (telephone) switch. Ringer On/Off - lets you save battery power by turning the ringer off when an extension phone is within hearing distance. Auto Stand-by/Talk - hangs up the phone when you set it on the base. When you pick up the handset, the phone is automatically on. IMPORTANT: Cordless phones such as this one require AC power to operate. When the AC power is off, you cannot dial out or receive incoming calls using your ET-509. For this reason, the ET-509 should not be your only telephone. To be safe, you should also have a phone that draws its power from the telephone line (not a cordless phone) so you can still make and receive calls if there is an AC power failure. (EB 1/8/96)
