ET-146 Telephone (430-0642) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19492 SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set PULSE/TONE on the right side of the phone for the type of service you have on both phone lines, pulse (rotary) or tone. If you are not sure which type you have, do this test. 1. Set PULSE/TONE to TONE. 2. Select a line by pressing LINE 1 or LINE 2. 3. Pick up the handset. 4. When you hear the dial tone, press any number other than 0. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone service. Leave PULSE/TONE set to TONE. If the dial tone continues, you have pulse service. Set PULSE/TONE to PULSE. SETTING THE RINGER SWITCHES The lines on your phone ring with different tones when someone places a call. You can set the phone lines to ring at the same volume, at different volumes, or not at all. To set each ringer's volume, set RINGER (OFF LO HI) for that line to the desired position. Set it to HI in a noisy room, such as the kitchen, or to LO in a quiet room, such as a bedroom. If you do not want a line's ringer to sound, set RINGER (OFF LO HI) for that line to OFF. You can still receive and make calls from that line. When you receive a call on a line, the light over that line's button flashes. (EB 1/12/96)
