Duofone-100 Automatic Telephone Memory Dialer (430-0279) Installation Faxback Doc. # 19586 Your DUOFONE-100 requires two 1 1/2 volt "AA" penlight cells (not supplied) to protect the phone numbers stored in the memory. INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERIES Open the battery compartment by pressing tab in the direction of arrow. Insert 2 "AA" cells (Radio Shack Cat. No. 230-0582). Be sure to observe the proper polarity. Replace the battery compartment door. CAUTION: When you change batteries, have the fresh ones ready to put in place. To hold memory, you must have the AC Power Cord connected to a source of AC power. QUICK-CONNECT PHONE LINE INSTALLATION IMPORTANT: Before connecting your DUOFONE-100, you must notify your local Telephone Company of the registration number and ringer equivalence number. You'll find both of these numbers on the bottom of the unit. The DUOFONE-100 uses modular type connector plugs and jacks (the same ones required for all new telephone equipment). It can be used with both rotary dial and push-button systems. If your telephone uses the older type 4-prong receptacles, Radio Shack sells the modular-to-4-prong adapter that's necessary to make the conversion. If your present telephones are wired directly to the wall, you'll need to update your wiring to the modular system. The Telephone Company will do this. NOTE: You local Telephone Company is authorized to charge you for the installation of such jacks. They may ask for the U.S.O.C. code number for the plug connection; this number is RJ-11C (ask for RJ-11W if you want a wall-type jack). Refer to illustration for cable connection. 1. Disconnect the existing telephone plug from the wall jack and plug it into the PHONE jack on the rear of the DUOFONE-100. 2. Plug the DUOFONE-100'S telephone cord into the telephone wall jack.
