See Faxback Doc. # 31225 Operation. CONNECTING TO THE PHONE LINE If your telephone line does not end in a modular jack, you can: Update the wiring yourself. Radio Shack stores sell jacks and adapters to convert older wiring methods to modular wiring. Have the telephone company update the wiring. NOTE: The telephone company can charge you for installing the jack. The phone company will ask for the USOC number of the jack. This number is RJ-11C (or RJ-11W for wall installation). WALL-MOUNTING THE PHONE You can mount the telephone on a standard wall plate or you can mount it directly on the wall by using two screws (not supplied) with heads that fit into the key-hole slots on the back of the unit. You can get a telephone wall-plate needed for wall-mounting at your local Radio Shack store. Mounting on a Wall Plate: 1. Attach the bracket on the back of the telephone so the small end of the key-hole slot is at the top of the bracket. 2. Plug one end of a short modular telephone cord supplied into the jack on the top of the telephone. Guide the cord through the groove on the back of the telephone. 3. Plug the other end of the modular telephone cord into the jack on the wall plate. 4. Align the phone's keyhole slots with the wall plate studs and slide the phone down on the studs to secure it. 5. Slide the clip up and out of its retaining slot in the base. Position it so the tab points up. Slide the clip back into its slot. Now you can hang the handset on the base. (CS 3/14/96)
