Contempra II One Piece Phone (430-0827) Operation Faxback Doc. # 31229 Use your phone as you would any other standard telephone. To make a call, lift the phone and listen for a dial tone. Dial the phone number as usual. To receive a call, lift the phone when it rings and begin your conversation. To finish a call, set the phone on a flat surface. The switchhook on the bottom of the phone automatically ends the call. NOTES: If you do not want to end a call, do not set the phone on a flat surface, but lay the phone on its side or back. Push the switchhook on the bottom of the phone to end a call and then make another one. SPECIAL FEATURES Redial With the touch of a single button, this phone's redial memory quickly calls the last number you dialed. The redial memory holds up to 32 digits for pulse mode or 31 digits for tone mode, so it can store long-distance as well as local numbers. Follow these steps to redial the last number you dialed. 1. Lift the phone and listen for a dial tone. 2. Press REDIAL. The telephone dials the last number dialed. Mute If you want to speak with someone in the room without the person on the phone hearing your conversation, press and hold MUTE. Release MUTE to resume your conversation. Flash Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal. When you press FLASH, the phone produces an electronic equivalent of a switchhook signal. For example, if you subscribe to call waiting (a special telephone company service), you can press FLASH to put your current call on hold and take another incoming call. You can repeatedly press FLASH to alternate between the two calls. NOTES: The redial memory does not store a flash entry or any keys you press before FLASH. If you do not have a special telephone service that uses flash, you might disconnect the current call if you press FLASH. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Some special services, such as bank-by-phone, require tone signals. If you have pulse service, you can still use these special tone services by following these steps. 1. Set TONE/PULSE to PULSE. 2. Call the service. 3. When the service answers, set TONE/PULSE to TONE. 4. Follow the normal procedures for the service you are using. Any additional numbers dialed send tone signals. 5. When you complete the call, set TONE/PULSE back to PULSE and hang up. The following is an alternate method to access special services using a pulse line. 1. Be sure TONE/PULSE is set to PULSE. Then dial the number of the special service. 2. When the service answers with a second dial tone, press *. Any additional numbers you dial produce tone signals. 3. Follow the special service's dialing procedure. After you hang up the phone, further numbers dialed will be sent with pulse signals (since TONE/PULSE is still set to PULSE). (CS 3/14/96)
