ET-208 Big Button Fashion Phone (430-0807) Operation Faxback Doc. # 31233 You can make and receive calls on your phone the way you do on any regular telephone. To make a call, use manual dialing or redial. To receive a call, lift the handset when the phone rings and begin your conversation. REDIALING Each time you dial a number, the telephone stores that number in a temporary memory. To call the last number dialed, simply lift the handset and press REDIAL. If the number is busy, press REDIAL again. The ET-208 gives a hangup signal and redials the number again. NOTES: The redial memory stores up to 31 digits in the tone mode or up to 32 digits in the pulse mode. Do not use REDIAL to dial a special service, such as a long distance service. REDIAL does not pause for the additional dial tone. PUTTING A CALL ON HOLD Press HOLD. The hold indicator lights and you can place the handset in the cradle. To release the call from hold, lift the ET-308's handset (or an extension's) and continue the conversation. If you did not return the handset to the cradle after putting the call on hold, press and hold the switchhook for 1 second then release the switchhook and continue the conversation. Or, press FLASH and continue the conversation. USING THE FLASH BUTTON Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal. When you press FLASH, your phone produces an electronic equivalent of a switchhook signal that is more accurate and convenient than using the phone's switchhook. For example, if you subscribe to call waiting (a special telephone company service), you can press FLASH to put your current call on hold and answer another incoming call. You can repeatedly press FLASH to alternate between the two calls. NOTES: The redial memory does not store a flash entry or any keys you press after FLASH. If you do not have special telephone services, you might disconnect the current call if you press FLASH. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Computer-based services, such as alternate long-distance services, require tone signals. To access special telephone services using a pulse line, you can change the TONE/PULSE switch setting during the call. 1. Dial the number of the special service with TONE/PULSE set to PULSE. 2. When the service answers with a second dial tone, set TONE/PULSE to TONE. 3. Follow the special service's dialing procedure. 4. Complete the call and hang up. Then set TONE/PULSE back to PULSE. Here is another way to access special services using a pulse line. 1. Be sure TONE/PULSE is set to PULSE. Then dial the number of the special service. 2. When the service answers with a second dial tone, press *. Any additional numbers you dial produce tone signals. 3. Follow the special service's dialing procedure. 4. Complete the call and hang up. Numbers dialed after you hang up the phone will be sent with pulse signals, since TONE/PULSE is still set to PULSE. (CS 3/14/96)
