CONNECTING TO THE PHONE LINE

Follow these steps to connect the phone to a modular jack.

1.  Plug the supplied phone cord into the jack on the rear of the phone.

2.  Plug the other end of the cord into the modular phone jack.

NOTES:  If you do not have a modular phone jack, you can either update the
        wiring yourself or the phone company can update it for you.  Radio
        Shack stores sell the jack and adapters necessary to convert from
        older wiring methods to modular wiring.

        The telephone company will charge you for installation of necessary
        jacks.  The telephone company will ask you for the USOC number of
        the jack to be installed.  This number is RJ11C.

SETTING THE TONE/PULSE SWITCH

Set TONE/PULSE for the type of service you have.  If you are not sure
which type of service you have, follow these steps.

1.  Set TONE/PULSE to TONE.

2.  Open the phone and listen for a dial tone.

3.  Press any number except 0.  If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone
    service.  Leave TONE/PULSE set to TONE.

4.  If the dial tone continues, you have pulse service.  Set TONE/PULSE to
    PULSE.
