13-Memory Big-Button Telephone (430-0804) Installation Faxback Doc. # 31408 CONNECTING TO THE TELEPHONE LINE You can use your phone as a desk-phone or as a wall-mounted phone. Select a location for your phone that is near a modular telephone jack and away from normal activities. NOTE: If you do not have a modular phone jack, you can either update the wiring yourself or have the phone company update it for you. Radio Shack stores sell the jacks and adapters you need. The telephone company will charge you for the installation of the necessary jacks. The telephone company will ask you for the USOC number of the jack to be installed. The number is RJ11C for a baseboard jack or RJ11W for a wall jack. Deck-Top Connection To use your phone as a desk phone, place the phone on a desk, table, or shelf. Plug one end of the supplied telephone cord into the jack on the back of the phone. Then, plug the other end into a modular phone jack. Wall-Mounting Connection Follow these steps to mount the phone directly on the wall. 1. Insert the supplied bracket into the slots on the bottom of the phone. 2. This gives you a convenient place to temporarily hang the handset without disconnecting the call. Rotate the holder and replace it so that you can hang the handset on the base. NOTE: You can place the handset on upper holder. This gives you a convenient place to temporarily hang the handset without disconnecting the call. CONNECTING THE HANDSET CORD Plug one end of the supplied coiled cord into the jack on the handset. Then, plug the cord's other end into the jack on the left side of the phone. Radio Shack stores sell longer handset cords. A long cord is especially useful if you mount the telephone on a wall.
