With the knob pushed in, turn it to set the clock's silver pointer to the desired alarm time. To set the alarm to sound, leave ALARM pressed out. To TURN OFF THE ALARM, PRESS IN alarm. USING MUTE To speak to someone in the room without the person on the phone hearing, press and hold MUTE. To resume you phone conversation release MUTE. USING REDIAL To call the last number dialed, press REDIAL. The redial memory holds up to 32 digits in the pulse mode, and 31 digits in the tone mode. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Some special services, such as bank-by-phone, require touch-tone signals. If you have pulse service, you can still use these special tone services by following these steps. 1. Set P/T on the left side of the handset to P. 2. Call the service. 3. When the service answers, press and release *. 4. Follow the normal procedures for the service you are using. Any additional numbers you dial are sent as tone signals. 5. When you complete the call, hang up the handset. The phone automatically returns to pulse dialing. NOTE: You can also change the dialing mode by setting P/T to T anytime during the call. But, you must set it back to P when you hang up. USING REDIAL FOR TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE To redial a number that includes a change from pulse to tone dialing (such as bank-by-phone services), leave P/T set to P and press REDIAL. The phone pauses during the mode change, the dials the remaining numbers. USING FLASH Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal. When you press FLASH, your phone produces an electronic switchhook signal that is more accurate and more convenient than using the phone's switchhook. For example, if you subscribe to call waiting, you can press FLASH to put your current call on hold and take the incoming call. You can repeatedly press FLASH to alternate between the two calls. USING MON The MON feature lets you dial and monitor the progress of a call without picking up the handset. 1. Press MON and wait for a dial tone. The neon light turns off. 2. Set MON. VOL. HI/MID/LO on the right side of the base to HI in a noisy room, such as the kitchen. Set MON.VOL. HI/MID/LO to MID for a medium volume level. Set MON.VOL. HI/MID/LO to LO in a quiet room, such as a bedroom. 3. Dial the phone number you want to call. 4. When the person you are calling answers, you hear them through the built-in speaker. 5.
