It uses the recently allocated 900 MHz band which has less interference and clearer sound and greater range than 46/49 MHz cordless telephones. Its cordless operation lets you move freely about your home or office. The Telephone Answering Device (TAD) stores all messages on a computer chip. This gives you advanced capabilities over tape-based answering machines. For example, you can save individual messages while the rest are erased. Because your TAD is fully digital, there are no tape mechanisms to wear out and no tapes to bother with. The TAD can record messages for four users with individual date/time stamps for each message. The TAD's 30-minute memory capacity means you can store a lot of messages! Its remote operation FEATURES let you access your TAD remotely from a touch tone phone. The TAD guides you through system operation with voice prompts. Cordless Telephone Features 900 MHz Operation - provides lower interference than 46/49 MHz phones. Digitally Encoded - prevents other people from picking up your phone's Signal signal (on scanners, for example) and listening to your conversations. 10 Channels - scans 10 channels (frequency pairs used between the base and the handset) and selects a clear one each time you make or receive a call. You can also manually change channels during a call. Security Access - changes each time you place the handset on the base, Protection Code to minimize the chances of other cordless phones using your phone line. Out of Range Signal - the handset beeps to let you know when it is out of the base's operating range. Paging System - lets you send a signal from the base to the handset so you can page someone or easily locate the handset when it is away from the base. 10-Number Memory - lets you store up to 10 phone numbers in memory for Dialing easy dialing. Privacy - prevents the person on the other end of the phone line from hearing your conversation with someone in the room. Flash - sends an electronic switchhook signal for use with special phone services such as call waiting. Redial - lets you quickly dial the last number dialed. Hold - lets you place a call on hold. Call Screening - lets you listen as a caller leaves a message so you can decide whether or not to answer the call. Memo Recording - lets you leave messages for yourself or others in your home or office. Adjustable Ring - lets you set the TAD to answer after two or four Number rings. Toll-Saver - lets you avoid unnecessary long-distance charges when you call by long distance to check your messages. Phone Pick-Up - stops recording when you pick up any phone on the Detection same line as the TAD, and resets to answer the next call. This TAD has been tested and found to comply with all applicable UL and FCC standards. IMPORTANT: Cordless phones such as this one require AC power to operate. When AC power is off, you cannot dial out or receive incoming calls using your TAD-1010. For this reason, the TAD-1010 should not be your only telephone. To be safe, you should also have a phone that does not require AC power to operate (not a cordless phone) so you can still make and receive calls if there is an AC power failure.
