DuoFone-167 Memory Dialing Speakerphone (430-0609) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 34208 SETTING AND USING THE SECURITY LOCK Your DuoFone-167 has a lock function that prevents unauthorized persons from using it. A four-digit lock code is set to activate the lock. When the telephone is locked, memory dialing, memory viewing, and memory storing are disabled. Memory redial, manual dialing, last-number redial, and hot-line dialing still function but the total digits of phone number can be dialed out is limited as stated in item 3 below. 1. With the handset on-hook, press [LOCK]. 2. Enter a four-digit code. 3. You can enter a fifth digit to indicate the level of lock the dialer uses. If you do not enter a fifth digit, the DuoFone-167 uses the previously set level, as indicated in the display. FIFTH DIGIT LOCK LEVEL 1...............One digit allowed. 2...............Two digits allowed. 3...............Three digits allowed. 4...............Four digits allowed. 5...............Five digits allowed. 6...............Six digits allowed. 7...............Seven digits allowed. 8...............Eight digits allowed. 9...............Nine digits allowed. 0...............Ten digits allowed. *...............Eleven digits allowed. #...............Twelve digits allowed. So, if you want to lock the telephone so that only local (seven-digit) numbers are allowed, set the fifth digit to 7. 4. Press [LOCK]. LOCK is shown in the upper left of the display. 5. To unlock the telephone, follow the steps again, using the security code you used to set the lock. LOCK is removed from the display if the correct code is entered. NOTE: If you forget the security code, you must reset the telephone. Remove the batteries, unplug the telephone power and telephone line cords, and wait thirty seconds. Re-install the telephone as detailed earlier in this section. All stored memory numbers are erased. (IR-08/09/96)
