Please discard them and follow these instructions instead. We're sorry for any inconvenience you or your customers might have experienced as a result of this error. Before you start, have the following information on hand (available from the cellular carrier): Customer Cellular Phone Number ( __ __ __ ) __ __ __ - __ __ __ __ Carrier System ID __ __ __ __ __ Carrier Access Overload Class __ __ Carrier Group ID __ __ Your phone's battery must be charged; the AC charger adapter is not sufficient to program or operate a phone with a discharged battery. If you make a mistake, press CLR and re-enter the data, or turn power off to begin again. 1. Press PWR ON, then press FCN 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 RCL. The display shows 01. 2. Press *. The display shows 0 0 0 0 0 Enter your Carrier System ID. 3. Press *. The display shows 0 2 Press * again. The display shows 1 1 1 Enter the customer's area code. 4. Press *. The display shows 0 3 Press * again. The display shows 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 Enter the customer's phone number. 5. Press * * *. The display shows 0 5 Press * again. The display shows 0 8 Enter the Carrier Access Overload Class. 6. Press *. The display shows 0 6 Press * again. The display shows 1 0 Enter the Carrier Group ID. If you want to change the security code or unlock code, or to program a second telephone number, continue to Step 6. Otherwise, press * until 0 1 appears in the display. Repeat Steps 1 - 5 to verify the data you entered. When 0 7 appears in the display, press SND. NOTE: Do not press SND until you have verified all data you entered. 7. Press *. The display shows 0 7 Press * again. The display shows 0 0 0 0 0 0 Enter the desired six-digit security code or go to Step 8. NOTE: We do not recommend changing the factory-preset security code of 0 0 0 0 0 0. If you forget the new code, you will have to pay for the phone to be sent to a certified repair center and reset. 8. Press *. The display shows 0 8 Press * again. The display shows 1 2 3 Enter the desired three-digit unlock code or go to Step 9. 9. Press * * *. The display shows 1 0 Press * again. The display shows 0 1 1 1 0 0 If you want to enter a second phone number, enter 0 1 1 1 1 0 NOTE: Have the information at the top of this page available for the second phone number before you begin programming. 10.Press * until 0 1 appears in the display. Repeat Steps 1 - 9 to verify the data you entered. When 1 1 appears on the display, press SND. NOTE: Do not press SND until you have verified all the data. Second Phone Number Programming Instructions After you verify the data you entered and press SND in Step 9 above, 0 1 2 appears in the display. 1. Press *. The display shows 0 0 0 0 0 2. Press *. The display shows 0 2 2 Press * again. The display shows 1 1 1 Enter the customer's area code. 3. Press *. The display shows 0 3 2 Press * again. The display shows 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 Enter the customer's second phone number. 4. Press * * *. The display shows 0 4 2 Press * again. The display shows 0 0 Enter the Carrier Access Overload Class. 5. Press *. The display shows 0 6 2 Press * again. The display shows 0 0 Enter the Carrier Group ID. 6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to verify the data you entered. When 0 1 appears on the display, press SND. NOTE: Do not press SND until you have verified all the data. Emergency Number Programming Instructions The CT-500 is designed to have a local emergency number (such as 911) programmed in memory location 01. Then, to place an emergency call, the user simply presses and holds 1 for about 1 second. Emergency appears on the display and the CT-500 dials the emergency number. Follow these steps to program an emergency number into memory location 01. 1. Clear the display if necessary, enter the emergency phone number and press STO. 2. Within 8 seconds, enter 01. Alpha appears briefly to indicate the phone is in alphabetic entry mode, then __ appears. NOTE: If you do not enter the memory location within 8 seconds, the display goes blank. Press END, then STO to recall the display and try again. 3. Press STO. The memory location appears on the display to confirm the entry. (EB 9/1/96)
