CHOOSING A LOCATION

Select a location for the phone based on normal usage.  However, also be
aware of cable placement to the instrument so that no chance exists that
the wires will interfere with any activities in the area.


INSTALLING AND INITIALIZING

Your DuoFone-205 is designed to operate primarily on AC power.  However,
for reliable operation under almost any situation, you must also install
4 AA backup batteries (not supplied).  The steps below must be followed
in sequence to ensure correct operation.

1.  Install the 4 AA batteries -- see next paragraph for battery
    installation procedure.

2.  Connect the power cord to an AC outlet.

3.  Connect the modular plug to the modular jack.

4.  Press the [ERASE] button and hold it down.

5.  While continuing to press the [ERASE] button, use a thin, pointed
    object to depress the [RESET] switch on the back of the telephone.
    Release the [RESET] button first, then the [ERASE] button.

NOTE:  If the power cord is inadvertantly unplugged after initialization
       has occurred, reconnect the cord and press [RESET].  If any phone
       numbers or names, originally programmed, have been altered,
       perform Step 5 and re-enter the data.


INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERIES

1.  Open the battery compartment by pressing the tab in the direction of
    the arrow.  Remove any old batteries.

2.  Place the handset on the phone base and make sure it remains in place
    during battery exchange.  Also make sure to keep power cord plugged
    into AC outlet.

3.  Insert 4 AA batteries (Cat. No. 23-582).  Observe polarity (+ and -)
    as indicated by the drawing in the compartment.

WARNING:  Incorrect battery installation (+ and -) might damage the unit.

4.  Replace the battery compartment cover.
