Portable Power Inverter (220-0138) Connections Faxback Doc. # 19628 CONNECTING EQUIPMENT REQUIRING LESS THAN 150 WATTS Follow these steps if the equipment to be used requires less than 150 watts. 1. Plug the power inverter into your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. 2. Plug the equipment to be used into the AC socket on the power inverter. CAUTIONS: The power inverter plug might get hot while it is plugged into a cigarette-lighter socket. Use a cloth or a glove to unplug it from the socket, and let it cool completely before you store it. The cigarette-lighter receptacle must be rated for at least 25 amps in order to continuously power a 220-watt load. NOTE: Unplug the power inverter from your cigarette-lighter socket when you are not using it. CONNECTING EQUIPMENT REQUIRING MORE THAN 150 WATTS If the equipment to be used requires greater than 150 watts or if the cigarette-lighter receptacle is not rated for at least 25 amps, the power inverter must be connected directly to the vehicle battery. CAUTION: This connection should be made by a qualified vehicle mechanic or electrical system installation technician. Notice to the installation Technician: Make sure the power inverter's red positive (+) wire connects directly to a positive source of at least 25 amps and its black negative (-) wire to the vehicle's chassis.
