Solder Feeder Attachment (640-2064) Directions for Use Faxback Doc. # 32016 Follow these steps to use the Solder Feeder Attachment: WARNING: Do not connect the soldering iron to AC power until you finish mounting the Solder Feeder. 1. Select the right size soldering iron holder for the size of pencil iron you plan to use. 2. Slide the soldering iron holder into the groove on the bottom of the Solder Feeder so the holder's tabs are aligned with the slots in the Solder Feeder. 3. Slide the holder away from the Feed Tube until it clicks into place. NOTE: To remove the soldering iron holder, push the Holder Lock down to release it. 4. With the Feed Tube away from you, slide the soldering iron holder onto the pencil soldering iron's handle as far as it will go. 5. Open the holding pawl by turning the Holding Pawl Knob so the arrow is parallel to the soldering iron. 6. Thread solder into the Solder Inlet on the back of the Solder Feeder, then push it forward into the Feed Tube. NOTE: Use solder between 0.02" and 0.07" in. diameter and at least 10" long. As you push the solder into the inlet, you might need to rotate it slowly. 7. Close the holding pawl by turning the Holding Pawl Knob so the arrow is perpendicular to the soldering iron. 8. Turn the Feed Tube Nut slightly in either direction to loosen it, then push the Feed Tube up or down to adjust its nozzle so the solder comes out just above the tip of the soldering iron. Then turn the Feed Tube Nut slightly in either direction until you feel it lock into place to tighten it. 9. Rotate the Solder Feed Adjustment Knob to L (for longer feed) or S (for shorter feed). Then push the Forward Level to advance the solder. 10. Connect the soldering iron to AC power. 11. Hold the soldering iron with the Solder Feeder mounted in place and press the Forward Lever to advance the solder while you are soldering. (EB 4/17/96) (LB-03/27/96)
