24-Hour Digital Timer (610-1060) Preparations Faxback Doc. # 34287 INSTALLING A BACKUP BATTERY The timer requires one AA battery (not supplied) for memory backup power. For the best performance and longest life we recommend an alkaline battery, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-557. CAUTION: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and type. 1. To remove the battery compartment cover, press the tab on the cover then pull the cover away from the compartment. 2. Insert the battery between the metal prongs on the inside of the cover, according to the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked there. 3. Replace the cover. NOTES: If you won't be using the timer for a month or more, remove the battery. Leaving the battery removed for longer than 15 seconds clears the timer's clock and event settings. If the display dims or the timer does not work properly when you unplug the timer from the AC outlet, replace the battery. WARNING: Always dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. SETTING THE CURRENT TIME 1. Set PROG/RUN/TIME SET to TIME SET. 2. Press HOUR to change the hour setting or MIN (minute) to change the minute setting. To set the selected event's time, press HOUR to change the hour or MIN. (minute) to change the minute. NOTES: To rapidly change the hour or minute, press and hold HOUR or MIN. NOTE: The events are related in groups of two; 1/ON with 2/OFF, 3/ON with 4/OFF, and so on. If you set one event time from a group, be sure you also set the other. For example, if you set 1/ON (the "on" time), be sure you also set 2/OFF (the "off" time). 5. When you finish, set PROG/RUN/TIME SET to RUN. MAKING THE CONNECTIONS To connect a device to the timer, simply plug the device into the 3-prong outlet on the side of the timer.
